Splinterlands - Fighting against stronger opponents #2

in #splinterlandslast year

this is my first post for 2023 in Splinterlands Weekly Challenge
in this post i would like to display another great battle against a seemingly stronger opponent
i wish i could create content for all my battles against stronger decks but this is not possible
you have the chance though, even through these posts to understand how it is possible to fight with someone who seems impossible to fight at first look

splinterlands battling 2.jpg

the battle i'm going to describe below took place a few days ago when i got a 50 mana cap battle and i was forced to choose between two Splinters ,Water Splinter and Dragons

the rules of the battle defined the strategy i followed
i have spoken many times about the combo Void Armor - Resurrect and this is what i implemented after reading my rival's gameplay
the rules 'Briar Patch' and 'Earthquake' were of my favorites
when i get 'Earthquake' rule i pick as a Summoner 9 out of 10 times Brighton Bloom..
as i said above we could choose between 2 Splinters ,Water and Dragons so Brighton Bloom was my pick without much thinking
Brighton provides the flying ability to all monsters so i was covered against the Earthquake rule
as far as it concerns the Briar Patch rule i decided not to play with melee monsters except my tank which i choose to be Alvar of course ,cause don't forget i was about to implement the combo Void Armor -Resurrect

Brighton Bloom gave my team the wings needed in order to avoid Earthquake effect
in first place Alvar was there to keep the defense line
in second place it was Oshannus time to do his job ,with 10 points of life could easily take tank's place but that was not necessary
in third place Nerissa with 3 hit points of magic attack was really a serious weapon on my hands
in fourth place i picked Ruler of the Seas cause i needed his blast ability and in the last two places Oshuur and Hellondale with resurrect ability joined forces to put my plan into work
the plan was in case Alvar was dead Oshuur to bring him back to life keeping his 8 points of Armor, making my opponent's life difficult
to destroy my rival's moral ,Hellondale was my second monster to bring Alvar back to life in case he was dead again

things didn't go as expected and as planned, my opponent got the Sandworm which managed to kill Hellondale so my first resurrect instead of Alvar was used to bring back to life Hellondale
thank god when Alvar was killed , it was the resurrected Hellondale who brought him back to life
all this action ,happened during the second round which was the most important round in the game
in the above picture you can see the moment Hellonadale has just died and Oshuur is about to bring him back to life

sdse.jpg

third and fourth round just sealed my victory ,the hard stuff took place only in second round
i never thought not even for a moment that i was going to lose the fight even when Hellondale was dead
my rival made critical mistakes,i don't know if he got the rules of the battle correctly but Gargoya Lion in second place and Chwala in third place made no sense to me and i believe to anyone
anyway the battle was over ,i won 0.359 SPS and 8800 RP not bad at all
i was expecting more from my opponent pre-battle and as it turned out to be i could have won him with even less preparation

Hi funnel, great battle!
I did not check out your opponent, but it looks to me like you had the much stronger deck. I know many of your opponents cards were leveled up but they were common or rare mostly. You had legendary across the board. Any particular reason why you thought you were going to be the weaker opponent?

pre-battle when you try to read your opponent i saw a very difficult player...his deck was much stronger than mine...his summoners upgraded despite of mine
so it make sense to feel a bit intimidated from the cards power
when the decks of this battle revealed on the battle-field it was another story..
on first -look of course i saw the lvl of my opponents cards ...on the second look though i noticed that his deck was wrongly picked and that he had no chance to win

P.S....never underestimate a leveled up common or rare...it doesn't mean that a legendary lvl 1 is better than a common leveled up...in many cases a common upgraded card is better than a legendary lvl 1

good to know! Your deck looks awesome by the way - what a great selection you have to choose from. I can't imagine what that other guy's deck looked like!
