For the third part of the series.
Deck compositions on CCG's in general usually uses a major faction/element combined with a few colorless/neutral components. In Splinterlands' case it uses a certain Splinter combined with some neutrals. At that time I was already using Water and Life on both magic and physical archetypes. I was performing quite well already considering my limited options I had but there is this drive in me that wants me to do more. I needed more options.
The Splash
Like in most CCG decks, I needed that splash that would make my decks flexible and allow me to perform better. Upon looking at the rewards am receiving and the cards available at the market it was time to "Enter The Dragon"
It made so much sense for me to unlock the Dragon Splinter since I have acquired a decent amount of dragon cards from End Of Season and Daily Quest rewards while playing on the higher leagues. I have gathered enough BCX on the cards that they can perform on a higher level, all that is needed is a summoner that could lead them.
He Can't Play!!!
Back when I started the game and Chaos Legion reward cards weren't released yet, there was this card that was receiving lukewarm responses among the players I know. In fact as someone who isn't that familiar with the game at that time, I didn't really care for it since I was more focused on the more glamorous legendary cards like the Robo Dragon Knight. I even recall telling myself that this card is useless to me. To no surprise, I was once again proven wrong by the game.
I decided then to acquire Kretch Tallevor!!!
Unlike other summoners it doesn't offer any armor, speed bonuses or any fancy skill, instead he just makes my whole team stronger. Not only is it useful in a "Silent Summoners Rule" match, it allows me to level up my reward cards and use those cards at the level I've managed to reach with them.
Since I wasn't lucky enough to get one back then, I then had to go to the market to acquire enough copies to have a Level 2 Kretch Tallevor.
This acquisition made it possible for me to use a deck that features higher level cards of not only Dragon, but Water and Life reward cards as well. Playing at lower Silver 3, I had better chances of winning by having cards at a slightly higher level. At 3 mana cost, I ended up using him more and more combined with more cards from either Water, Life and Neutral.
At this level 2 I can use the following Dragon reward cards already:
- Level 2 Djinn Chawala (can win matches on her own)
- Level 3 Naga Assassin
- Level 3 Twilight Basilisk
Here are some matches that features decks I have built around Kretch Tallevor using higher BCX cards and in my case without any rentals.
Dragon and Physical Water Deck
Dragon and Life Rewards Deck
As The Season Ends.......
As I expected, I will be at a very low rank as the end of the season approaches. I no longer will be able to claim as much chests as I did in previous seasons (down from 18 - 12).
But instead of feeling down about it, I seem to be feeling better. I am not in anyway shape or form feeling any pressure to rent more for power and battle it out till I my ECR allows me to. What am feeling instead is satisfaction that I didn't lose anything from renting cards. Deep inside I know that I have increased my card values, earned more assets by acquiring cards instead of using them to rent a lot of cards. As of now am only renting a chicken and am thinking of getting one of my own.
With Chaos Legion around and having bought some packs for myself, I can't help but be excited for what's about to come. Hopefully, I'll be able to acquire more cards that'll allow me to reach a higher CP or improve my collection's BCX.
To be continued.......
