Does Lebron's finals record help or hinder his legacy.

in #sports7 years ago

King James is currently playing in his 8th finals series and a remarkable 8 in a row, a feat which has not been achieved since players in the iconic Boston teams lead by Billy Russell in the 50s and 60s. The question is often posed does his current record of 3 rings with 4 losses most likely to be 5 losses in finals hurt his legacy? I think the opposite the achievement to make 7 finals series in a row should be something that validates his greatness, Lebron really hasnt had great teams in Cleveland over the last 4 years to achieve this and now that Kyrie is no longer with him as his Robin to Batman it is even more remarkable that he was able to take a team of role players to the finals again.

The one glaring loss on Kings resume would have to be the 2011 Finals loss to the Dallas Mavericks, James had both D Wade and Chris Bosh in there prime going up a Dallas team with only one all start in the great Dirk Novitzki . A lot of the critisms that still wrongly stand of Lebron to this day date back to that Dallas Finals LeBron isn't clutch — because he lost to Dallas. LeBron isn't a real leader — because he lost to Dallas. LeBron isn't the GOAT — because he lost to Dallas. He is going to have to live with that one as he didnt come to play when it mattered, his 2007 finals loss to the Spurs can not be held against him he was still very young with a team that would have won 20 games with out him.

He bounced back with back to back Championships in Miami before another heavy loss to the Spurs in 2014 upon which he decided to head back to Cleveland. The 2015 finals series was taken away from him when both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love went down injured in the playoffs he still managed to take it 6 games and many believe that was the one that got away as with Kyrie and Love it looked theres against a Warriors team who didnt know if they could win yet.

That series was the first of the Part IV in the series of the Cavs and Warriors, in 2016 Lebron completed his crowning achievement in Basketball when he dragged the Cavs from 3-1 down in the series to beat the greatest regular season team of all time the 73 game winning Warriors, that Championship alone should count for another 1 i think, he had plenty of help from Kyrie but was the undisputed finals MVP.

Since adding Kevin Durant the Warriors swept all before them in winning the 2017 Championships and are on the way to back to back titles this year, the KD move i think is really bad for basketball a current MVP who went from a team who had pushed the Warriors in the Western Conference finals to join up with them, think this through a team that won 73 games adds an MVP. I thought it was a soft move from Durant and a sign he didnt think he could win a Ship on his own shoulders. As for Lebrons legacy i think it is growing every year and he will evenutally go down as the G.OA.T.
