Our Gamour Girl - Franzi the Swimming goddess
Here comes edition No. 4 of famous German athletes. Franziska van Almsick is a former swimmer from Berlin that won a lot when she you was very very young already. At the age of 14 she won her first Olympic medals in 1992 at the Barcelona Olympics Games. In total she collected 10 Olympic medals, but never a Gold one.
Franzi however was World Champion in the 100 freestyle in 1994, owned several world records and her major success in the European Championships, where in both 1993 and 1995 she won six gold medals.
Apart from making swimming popular in Germany she was an early glamour athlete, everybody's darling but one that always was honest and telling even not so popular truth about swimming in general. She several times kicked the butts of international and German swimming associations.
She lives in the gorgeous city of Heidelberg with her family and has two sons.
After her career she was present across all broadcast media as expert, model and entertainer - to me one of the few local superstar with star glamour appeal. Any objections Steemit Community?

You asked for suggestions. Here is another glamour swimmer who was hugely popular in his day. Here's an interesting question, is being an ethnic-German enough to qualify for inclusion on the German-Trail?
Johnny Weismuller (born as Johann Peter Weißmüller) was an Olympic Swimming champion who went on to become the sexy yodeling Tarzan -- imagine he starred in 10 Tarzan films!
