Boston Strong

in #sports6 years ago

The second stop on this trip was an impromptu stop to America's favorite ballpark, Fenway Park. I walked through the Boston Commons and Public Gardens to get to the Park. It was a beautiful afternoon for a stroll. This weekend happens to be Patriots Day weekend when Boston hosts the Boston Marathon. The city was buzzing.

Once I reached Fenway, I did a lap around the stadium to grasp the full picture. This 106 year old is a thing of beauty and the only stadium I could possibly compare it to is Wrigley Field. It was a bit of a pain to get in the park but they were giving out Chris Sale bobbleheads so I guess that's forgivable.

The pregame ceremony was a special one. This year is the 115th year of the marathon and the 5 year anniversary of the Patriots Day terrorist attacks. It was a beautiful scene as survivors walked out from centerfield to be honored and throw out the first pitch. It was a fantastic moment and one I wouldn't soon forget.

Before the game started, I got my normal hot dog and a local brew to sample the favor of the park. This time is was a foot long and a Sam Adams '76. When the game did get underway, the Orioles, who were visiting for the special Friday through Monday series, got on the board first. However, their 1-0 lead was short lived. The Bosox would plate 4 runs and then run O's starter Chris Tillman out of the game in the 3rd. His line was and unsightly one as he gave 6 runs and only got 6 outs while leaving the bases loaded with no outs in the 3rd.

The Orioles bullpen held their own with Mike Wright giving up the only other run but the damage was already done. Sox starter Eduardo kept the O's in check only giving up one run. One has to think the O's are nearly out of patience with both Tillman and Wright. I can't see them on the roster much longer. Boston now has an impressive 11-2 start.

Nagoya Dome is the place where I first visit a baseball in person. The cheering squad lift up the spirit to each of the audience watching from the crowd. I remember my memories when looking into your blog post. Thanks @writesbackwards

Sports is one good thing that bring everyone together not minding our differences in what we believe, practice, or teach. I can not imagine the world without sports it will be very boring. Thanks @writesbackwards for sharing this with us and like the use of your words it’s perfect. Hopefully I will come to Boston soon to get to feel the vibe on the standings!

You're right @wales007! Sport has been bringing us together since the ancient Olympics, which took place with a pause in all hostilities amongst the ancient Greek city-states. Sport will always continue to inspire us!

Nice one. @donskoy through sports we can make the world peaceful and a better place for all to live in .

Amen to that! Baseball is my church!
