Recent Glint Cost Changes at the Splinterlands Rewards Shop

The recent announcement about the Glint cost increases in the Splinterlands Rewards shop has left me feeling somewhat disappointed. Right before the launch of the new Rebellion edition reward cards, the team adjusted Glint pricing to control inflation for these new cards. While the reasoning behind the change makes sense from an economic perspective, it was a tough pill to swallow for those of us who have been holding our earned Glint in anticipation.

Some of the increases are quite substantial, and although I understand that these adjustments are necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Splinterlands ecosystem, the constant shifts and changes are starting to take their toll. It’s making it harder to commit additional capital and resources into the project, as there’s a growing sense of uncertainty around future costs.

I find myself in a bit of a holding pattern because of these adjustments, and that’s unfortunate given the amount of time and capital I’ve already invested. For a game that prides itself on community engagement and player-driven economy, I worry that these rising costs could act as a barrier for new players. It’s becoming more difficult for them to join and enjoy the experience like the original players do, which could hurt the overall growth of the game.

I remain committed to Splinterlands, but the recent changes to the Glint economy are giving me pause. Hopefully, there will be more clarity and balance as the team continues to develop the game. For now, I’ll keep a close eye on how things evolve, but I do hope the game can find a way to make it easier for newer players to engage without being priced out.

I didn't really mind since these are soulbound reward cards anyways. Even when CL unlocked, people were barely buying them for any profits passed the unlock fee.

In a few more seasons I should be done collection the new set and I can go back to spending my extra Glint on more energy!!!

Agreed but still not enjoying the last minute changes...

To me it signals that they are trying to buy some time before having to change the reward cards again. The last ones were in the store for over 1.5 years and with people saving up glint since April my guess is their calculations were that many would be able to max them out very quickly this time around.

My hope is these are only around for a year. Assuming we get a new core set in Q2 of 2025, I would love to see these rotate out sometime in Q3 or Q4.
