Abuse means "to misuse, to use improperly, to use up or to injure by maltreatment." The effects of abuse can be devastating and long-lasting. Many people never recover from it.

Abuse is the improper usage or treatment of an entity, often to unfairly or improperly gain benefit. Abuse can come in many forms, such as: physical or verbal maltreatment, injury, assault, violation, rape, unjust practices, crimes, or other types of aggression.

Types of Abuse
Abuse can come in many forms, make sure you're aware of what to look out for by knowing these types of abuse:

1 PHYSICAL ABUSE
This is the easiest form of abuse to spot as it is non-accidental harm to the body. Physical abuse is any intentional act causing injury or trauma to another person by way of bodily contact. In most cases, children are the victims of physical abuse, it can range from physical injuries such as hitting, pushing, wounding etc. to things such as misuse of medication, inappropriate use of restraint and

2 SEXUAL ABUSE
Includes sexual assault or sexual acts which have not been consented to. Also, encompasses rape and non-contact abuse such as sexual harassment or pornography.

3 EMOTIONAL ABUSE
Focusses on the mental aspect of abuse such as threats, abandonment, intimidation, humiliation, deprivation of physical or emotional contact and cultural needs. Can also include verbal abuse. Psychological abuse can be harder to spot as it is often done in private and has no physical signs.
Can encompass internet scams, fraud or theft of property but also alludes to control over financial ownership such as wills, inheritance or properties.
Means the unequal treatment of a person due to their race, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
The mistreatment, abuse or neglect of a person in a setting where the person lives or a service that they use. The abusers can be management or individuals. Organisation abuse can involve more than one abuser and there may also be more than one person experiencing the abuse.
Emotional abuse can happen to anyone at any time in their lives. Children, teens and adults, all experience emotional abuse. And emotional abuse can have devastating consequences on relationships and all those involved. Just because there is no physical mark doesn't mean the abuse isn't real and isn't a problem or even a crime in some countries.

Emotional abuse symptoms vary but can invade any part of a person's life. Signs of emotional abuse include:
Yelling or swearing Name calling or insults; mockingThreats and intimidationIgnoring or excludingIsolatingHumiliating

4 MODERN SLAVERY
Contemporary slavery, also known as modern slavery, refers to the institutions of slavery that continue to exist in the present day.

Modern slavery is a hidden crime, targeted people living in poverty or with a lack of education or unstable social conditions. Victims of Modern Slavery often face a number of types of abuse and with a shocking . It’s crucial we are aware of this crime.
Modern Slavery encompasses slavery, domestic servitude, human trafficking and forced labour. It is an international crime and can include victims that have been brought over from developing and under develop nations who are forced to work illegally against their will ,often in illegal establishments.
Slavery did not end with abolition in the 19th century. Slavery continues today and harms people in every country in the world.
Women forced into prostitution, people forced to work in agriculture, domestic work and factories. Children in sweatshops producing goods sold globally. Entire families forced to work for nothing to pay off generational debts. Girls forced to marry older men.

Someone is in slavery if they are:
forced to work – through coercion, or mental or physical threat; owned or controlled by an ’employer’, through mental or physical abuse or the threat of abuse;dehumanised, treated as a commodity or bought and sold as ‘property’;physically constrained or have restrictions placed on their freedom of movement.

5 SELF-NEGLECT

Self-Neglect is a little different to the other types of abuse as this is inflicted from an individual to themselves and focusses on a lack of self-care so much that it affects personal health and safety. Self-Neglect also encompasses self-harm, failing to care for one’s personal hygiene, surroundings or health.

People who suffer from self-neglect are also at risk of other forms of abuse
Sexual Assault.

Sexual assault can take many different forms and be defined in different ways, but one thing remains the same: it’s never the victim’s fault.

6 Child Sexual Abuse
When a perpetrator intentionally harms a minor physically, psychologically, sexually, or by acts of neglect, the crime is known as child abuse.

7 Sexual Assault of Men and Boys
Men and boys who have been sexually assaulted or abused may also face some additional challenges because of social attitudes and stereotypes about men and masculinity.

8 Incest
Regardless of how the law defines incest, unwanted sexual contact from a family member can have a lasting effect on the survivor.

9 Drug-Facilitated Sexual Assault

You may have heard the term “date rape drugs” to refer to substances that can aid a perpetrator in committing drug-facilitated sexual assault.
No matter the form, the results are always terrible. It will keep you from functioning properly and prevent you from receiving and experiencing the righteousness, peace, and joy of God's kingdom.
Any one that faces child abuse
understand the firsthand because he or she was abused throughout his or her childhood. There's a power greater than the power of abuse, that is the great power of God's love. Because of the love of God, your past doesn't have to affect your future anymore.

If you've been abused in the past, understand today that God loves you. Nothing can separate you from His love. He has made a way for you to be free from your past and to enter true Kingdom living.

In conclusion, with Jesus, there is hope for newness of life. Will you receive this love of God, I've been abused and misused, but I won't let my past affect my future. Overwhelm me with Your love today so that I can experience Your freedom from abuse.
