My Little Angel

I will be writing something different from my usual tutorial on photoshop today. I want to talk about my daughter.

This is my little girl. She 8 years old. She has a bit of passion for art and I have been trying to get her interested in drawing. She has a passion for colours just like myself. Sometimes when I draw she will be sitting beside me and commenting on my drawing.

Fortunately in our country, it is part of the education system to allow the kids to draw and have fun. There are also ample drawing contests. I stay in Putrajaya and usually during celebrations and festivals there will be drawing and colouring activities for the kids.

Unlike other parents, the use of Ipads and handphones is a big no no for me. I wouldn't want my kid to be glued and addicted to the things on the internet and youtube. Although I do admit that there are many good things on the internet, but I prefer her to grow up the traditional way. More like how I grew up. I want her to feel how it is like holding crayons and doing painting using watercolour. Although she do feel left out when she sees her friends using their gadgets but she is also quite happy doing her own art.

I am quite proud that her colouring effort is not mere flat tone. It has tones and there is a play of colours with different temperatures. It shows she is daddy's little girl

She Does Cooking Too

There are a few activities for kids too. I stay in Putrajaya which is the center of administration in Malaysia. There are loads of activities. She likes to cook and there are cooking lessons for Juniors here where I stay. Sometimes they get to bake cookies and make cakes. To me anything is fine as long as she interacts with her surrounding and friends.

She is not an outdoor person, she prefers to stay indoor and do her activities. If I am not working I would always accompany her. She has deep compassion for animals especially cats. She loves playing with them.

The picture below is a family day event in Putrajaya and I took her out. Only after becoming a father I realised how important its is to give a child a balanced childhood. I am not the kind of regular Asian parent that focus on academic excellence. To me it is also important for my child to be moulded in other areas of growth such as her communication skills and I do not want her to be pressured to excel academically. I wasn't a very good student myself but I usually do very well in arts and craft.

Good thing about my daughter is she is quite easy to blend with the crowd. So she makes friends easily. This is one of her close friends. They usually hang out together when their parents are free enough to take them out. I am very much in support of the activities held by @elizacheng and @bitrocker2020 for the kids in #MyJuniors. At least it makes the kids feel that their parents are spending quality time with them. It would be good if the parents can participate in the events.
