Yea, there's not really a good 'predictive' option available.
But whenever I felt that one of my posts was 'underachieving' compared to my expectations, the headline and thumbnail is always the first place I look as a possible improvement.

Though we never really know for sure since there are so many other factors that could lead to something getting few votes.
