RE: I'm calling Bull Shit on Jerry Banfield's Latest Mega Post!!!

in #steem6 years ago

Vote selling bots are cancer for the steem ecosystem. From what I've seen it reduces manual curation and engagement, and the quality of content suffers as a result.

Not to mention the fact that they are a transfer of wealth from the bottom to the top...

Sort:

If it weren’t for delegation, most of these bid bots wouldn’t exist. They’re run by users who have mostly invested nothing. They either begged for delegation or are renting it, with no accountability from either party.

This can be directly traced back to HF 18 and 19. Reduced accountability and disengagement followed by increasingly lucrative spamming and self-voting. And it’s done wonders for us as a “social media” platform.

And for the record: Fuck Jerry.

I called out this douchebag when he first arrived. The fact that he’s still a thing on this platform thoroughly disgusts me. This “community” we have here ought to be fucking embarrassed. But it’s mostly a bunch of shameless, talentless beggars, so why would they care?

Oh, I like you! 😁

What disdain you have for a top 20 witness. Love it!

Top-20 witness or not, he’s a piece of shit. And unfortunately, he’s not the only one.

We can do so much better around here. It’s pretty pathetic how terrible things are “working” right now. Witnesses like that fucktard, Jerry, make it exponentially worse.

Read @berniesanders assessment oc the top 20 witnesses... :-)

@ats-david

This Jerry guy is atleast putting some effort in making these hours long videos but in my experience there are so many more obvious bad actors on Steemit who make zero effort ...look below.

total scam as to how this is worth 56.83$

The problem with ranting about stuff that isn't true is people might actually believe you.
But agreed the meme thing is a total waste of time. That category should absolutely be banned from using bid bots.

Let's see how things shape up , it's mostly upto whales and dolphins to drive this issue.

How if reputation and witness vote strength depend on liquid steem power instead of delegations? I guess that will solve things a little?

I actually posted thread about this but no one gave a fuck, so decided to engage about the same here 😁

Bid bots are here to stay , I don't like them but if they are banned this sort of paid voting will go behind close curtains and we will loose whatever transparency we have right now.

Unless the whales band together and require the bots to check quality of content before upvoting , that sounds awful lot like centralized Googlesque authority.

@bacchist most bots are loss making these days. I used to go there before but it's become such a drain that most users will drop it. It's become a money making thing now and playing with bots is not allowing its users to have any positive return. I think we should just stop using it unless there is some level of positive return.

I agree, @sidsun, it's tough to turn a profit with most bid bots. If you invest enough, you might get gain some visibility to attract organic votes, but you've got to risk quite a bit.

It wasn't in the original vision, and has evolved into people creating $2000 mega posts. He's just farming Steem and yet, is also cashing in as a top 20 witness.
