Zappl - Twitter For The Steem Blockchain?
I'm always on the lookout for dapps (decentralized apps) that I think you guys might be interested in. And today I'm going to be covering Zappl which is a micro-blogging platform similar to Twitter, and utilizes the Steem blockchain. It's grown in popularity since it's launch almost a year ago, but is it something you might want to use? See today's video for my initial impressions, features, and things I think might be improved. I am a huge Twitter user. Been there since day one and have a healthy following there. So when I heard there was a 'twitter' version on Steem I ran as fast as I could...
I used it a few times and just thought the way it interacted with Steemit and Steem in general left a lot to be desired.
That silly tag they leave on the Steemit platform when you use it it odd. And I get it, they are trying to get people to use Zappl rather than Steemit and that's fine...I'm just not sure it's something I will be using daily...Yet.
Would love to because I absolutely love Twitter (more than any of the other centralized social apps)...But this just feels like it's missing something. Not sure what though...

I can definitely see that. The titles look a little tacky as well. After looking through my post on steemworld it looks as if they're posting as a comment, not an actual post. I guess this is because on Twitter you wouldn't create a title either. But it does leave some room for improvement from a visual standpoint.
I'm with you Jon. It lacks a lot to be desired. However, I am sure they will continue to improve upon it and I plan to revisit it's use in a couple months.
so true, the wave of zappl has been so intense lately, I had no other choice but to join in.
I'm going to have to start using it more myself. It will be useful for my travel channel for sure!
This sounds excellent! Pretty sure we will see enough Steem powered apps to eclipse what the legacy social media has built so far.

This is great looking forward to this specially when we facebook twitter and others holding cryptocurrency back this platform will help raise more awareness and thank you brandon for bringing this information to us.
Absolutely @ychaudrys, I had been hearing about Zappl for a while but never really looked into it much. Seems to be more popular outside of the U.S. but that could definitely change.
Since I'm not a twitter user I also didn't see a need for zappl so far. But if they really introduce chat, it becomes clearly interesting.
You pointed out the "draft" option. I just tried it. But once you wrote a post and saved it as a draft you can't delete it. It stays there forever in the saved drafts unless you post it.
I agree, just the chat functionality makes it super valuable. I really hope that will come to Steemit in the near future. We really need that. And that's interesting about the drafts.. seems like you would be able to remove them if you're not going to use them. That could get kind of cluttered.

Like that Alexa page. So many apps and adjunct sites with steemit. The thing though with sticking with twitter and (cough) Facebook is that more people will start asking what is this steemit. I thinking posting off the block chain is still very important to the growth of the blockchain:)
You've got some great points. That's one of the reasons I'm so big on using YouTube (aside from them hosting my videos for free). Exposure. Exposure. Exposure! I've heard from so many people who have found me on YouTube and have come over here to create an account. Gotta keep sharing the word! :)

Hi @brandonfrye. I heard about Zappl some months back and I meant to dig up some info about it. However, due to procrastination (for the most part) I didn't quite get to doing so. This vlog has certainly rekindled my interest. Thanks for sharing.

Strike the iron when its hot . Social media are under huge pressure right now , rightly so . Data manipulation, misuse, selling without permission all these are done by social mughal and time has come to dis-intermediate . Steemit is at the crux now to solve the puzzle . Great going .
Great review and this is definitely something for me to consider soon, but not until I fully understand Steemit first, it's good to know this vlog is here so I can come back to it anytime. 💯 % upvote and resteem.

Great to see that more apps continue to be added to the STEEM ecosystem as it will drive more users in the long term. It also shows the bandwidth it continues to have as performance has yet to be impacted by all the interaction of these apps.
I was wondering when you would get around to reviewing Zappl. I first used it a couple of months ago and I'm still undecided if I'm going to use it regularly. At first I was searching for the place to enter tags but then was told you just use hashtags in the zap itself just like you would in Twitter.
As for the header, maybe Zappl is trying to figure how to customize them so they aren't imported from Steemit. The imported Steemit header on the other apps I use all look terrible. I wish they would fix that.
A couple of my zaps did get upvoted by Zappl (the first time one of the apps has upvoted my content) so that was nice.
Gonna park this for the moment because I have enough on my plate as a newbie trying to get my head around Steemit. Found you along the way and appreciate your demo here and your other videos, which I'm munching my way through and finding really useful. You're a positive force on here from what I've seen so far.

When We Delegate To your Bot How Long Is The Delegation?
It remains delegated until you undelegate it. So as long as you want to receive daily payouts you don’t have to do anything. And you can remove it at any time.
