RE: Why is the Steem Price Low? How Do We Fix It?

in #steem6 years ago

You are 1000% wrong, flags are for the enforcement against miscreants, trolls and spammers.

Easy answer for everyone who finds this place to be over censored is to move on, I hear ONO and EOS will be a lot of handholding and Kumbaya singing. Or in your own words FaceBook is better, so go back there.

See that is the point, you can whine here all day and no-one can make you leave. You also do not need to invest a dime into this platform to make any money. Only those trying to turn it into a get rich scheme ever throw around words like investments. This is a social media platform, 1st and foremost, steemit.com is not STEEM. The value of STEEM is not Steemit, Steemit is the fun site built and run on STEEM just as there are others.

At the end of the day the people who want to cry over flags have the right to do so as we do not censor here but no-one is required to care about your feelings either.

Sort:

I'm simply warning that the goose that laid the golden egg is going to be killed slowly by the flag. And your response is to "go back there" (to facebook). You are all sitting on the edge of greatness. I am not crying for myself, except that I would like to become successful on Steemit, but for everyone here to have the potential to be very successful. Don't get me wrong. Steemit is poised for greatness. Yet it has a flaw. I think the flag is its Achilles heel. If the platform grows we all benefit. I want to thrive here. I don't want to leave. Look at my blog. I am doing my best to be a good content author and posting every day. This is all we should be thinking about as members. Producing good content without the worry your hours of hard work will be rendered impotent before you have a chance at that 30 second window of (real) exposure that you get here.

You are correct about one thing; Facts are facts, and they don't care about your feelings.

If the flag were gone I would consider investing. But not as it currently stands.

You do understand that there is a limited amount of Steem and once it is gone it's gone.

That means if the flag was gone people who had the money to buy votes into the $1,000's every day would drain the reward pool that is supposed to make things good for everyone down the road.

Users like Jerry would just suck the entire pool empty and there would be no earning for any content creators. Flags were put into effect for community protection, not as punishment. Yes, there may be a few who flag out of spite but over all the flags are the only reason steemit is still paying new users anything at all.

No Flags = No Payout for anyone

BTW, I really do enjoy our civil discussion. Thank you for that.

I just wish we were not talking on a post by Jerry, lol

Maybe it is a good thing.

It is never a good thing to have your name mentioned anywhere in the proximity of Jerry's.

Then it is the DAPPs the need to go?

They are the villains here?

If so, then why should we all suffer the flag when the problem is a technical one.

Because if there is no flag, assholes like @jerrybanfield will drive their post to over $1,000's all while conning the sheep. The flag is and always will be needed for community protection.

Unless a flag causes a post, thought, idea or any other type of post to disappear from the platform they are not censorship, they are needed.

Can you link me to a post you have done that is an actual post? I looked and it looks like a bunch of truth meme's and short tweet type post. Do you have any real post or stories? I am not trying to be mean, just trying to see what you offer.

I offer my 15 minute videos and music from Dtube, music through Dsound, And I have been posting my memes, travel photos And a few longer articles. I posted an article about unrecoverable accounts. titled Crypto Bombshell Cryptocurrencies Dirty Little Secret.

https://steemit.com/crypto/@stephenthorburn/crypto-bombshell-cryptocurrency-s-dirty-little-secret

I also posted an article about my suggestions for platform improvements.

https://steemit.com/steemit/@stephenthorburn/how-to-improve-steemit-user-retention-suggestions-from-a-newbie

Most of my posts are my travel photos. I have been posting small groups of photos from my travels with a small amount of copy to describe the photos and what they are about.

I believe I am using the platform as intended.

Please let me know why if you disagree.

I want to use Steemit as it was intended, so any suggestions you have will be greatly appreciated.

I have a question for you. If a DAPP can go around and upvote it can also be designed to deliver flags. It is the same problem. Someone could program their bot to flag everybody. I think DAPPs should be banned because the give an unfair advantage to the reward pool. Uh oh, Did I open another Pandora's Box?

Get rid of the DAPPs and the flag then. Easy peasy

The blockchain was made to have DAPP's built on them, that is its purpose. I don't understand them fully but I do know that is one of the selling points for investors is the ability to build and host them on the chain.

We can only get rid of the flag if we get rid of dishonest people.

Steemit puts those dishonest people in control of the flag. People will be people, some criminal minded, and others not. A flag does not let me know what is the nature of the violation. Oh yeah, there does not need to be a reason. I can be flagged simply because of a disagreement or political or religious views. There is no due process, no charges, and no realistic defense. So the selling point of Steemit is you can fleece all the members with a DAPP and all the minnows are fodder for financial success. Some selling point.

As I see it Steemit is a caste system. Where the whales keep the minnows oppressed, while profiting off them by keeping the reward pool to themselves. The whales give lip service to helping minnows, but secretly taking advantage of them.

My Imagination is farseeing, yet I only have about a month of familiarity with Steemit so I don't know all there is to know about it. I am still learning. But as a layman, I am sharing my thoughts and feelings about what I have seen so far.

I am not sure putting the fox (dishonest people) in charge of the henhouse is the best solution to dishonest people. Jus sayin.

As long as there is no due process BEFORE sentencing I am not inclined to invest in Steemit. I think the deck, is at present, stacked against me.

I would love to invest in Steemit but for these Issues I have been discussing. I don't plan on leaving just yet. I am just not going to invest my hard earned cash into it now.

To be sure, I will not be the only one put off upon entering Steemit. I was reluctant from the beginning to invest too much of my time either.
