Very valid points. It seems to Steemit inc is leaving most of the work to the community, which is the essence of a blockchain community. I think their approach is befitting, but I personally would like to see some more support to communities and marketing.

In case of marketing we have the #promo-steem movement with as main account @steem-ambassador. The idea is that the the main account will be the hub for promotional activities.
