Growing Pains

in #steem4 years ago (edited)

Once upon a rant lived here. Moment of weakness on my part. Just want to give a big shout out to all the fantastic people who took the time to comment and make my day. There are a lot of keepers on steemit:)

Well, Pryde, you know I don't want to see you go and I'm glad you're going to take the time to re-evaluate. I am guilty of not coming over all the time even though I absolutely adore everything that you write. I have had the pleasure of purchasing your books and I'm delighted every time you get on and do a read.

The fact that you are not getting traction on your post surprises me, and yet appalls me because you are not the only person this happens too and I am truly perplexed. When someone takes the time out of their busy day to put out such a well-written post, I have to wonder why it doesn't have money thrown at it. I mean seriously, I have never read a post of yours that didn't shine. You have got to know that I am not saying this because of you talking about leaving, but, as your friend and a huge fan of yours.

I can understand your disappointment in giving all that money to the blockchain and not getting, at the very least, a bit of interaction back. They certainly lack in the interaction department and even myself, who usually will get a few comments with each post would be lacking in that true interaction aspect. It feels like a failure when a person gets a little quip to fill that square of having commented. So I'm not sure a comment is a comment without the true interaction. Don't get mad at me but I upvoted it 100% because you deserve way more than that and I don't care if you don't want my money. You darn well know you want that $0.04, well if you are lucky, it may well be up to $0.05. Now, don't be getting excited until you look. I cannot take any more disappointments today.

I'm pretty sure that you have no idea how much people really think of you and I think it's kind of sad on one hand to have you saying you're leaving and for me to come over here and tell me how wonderful you are and please don't leave. But the fact is, I really do feel like you're wonderful. I really do feel like the blockchain would have a hole in it. I really do feel like you have a reason to be here but it's just not quite evident to you right now.

You are a fighter and I know that you have given it a good fight but I'm just asking you to stay a little bit longer and see if the tides don't shift. We can do this! Love to you my friend and I don't expect you to go anywhere without at least telling me. As far as I am concerned, you are going to take a little bit of time off, which I'll give you a day or two and then you'll come back swinging hard. And as for people reposting stuff? Everybody uses pieces or pictures or a thought from time to time and I am so sorry that someone stabbed you for that. I get downvoted for using SBI as a reward. If I mention the name like I just did here I'll probably get another down vote. I know it's not about the money although that's nice. To lose money and then be insulted with a non-existent audience at times will hurt my feelings, so my part in not being here more makes me a little sad. Your kind and thoughtful and a brilliant writer and I don't want you to stop posting here.

As a matter of fact, I think that you should consider joining PowerHouseCreatives. PHC has members supporting members and their writings. They require a little sweat for their equity, but, it gets your name out and on the map. And there are many writing challenges. I think you would be a good fit. Try it, you'll like it. (That was in my best Italian accent.) Let me know what you think about PowerhouseCreatives. It won't hurt to give it a chance and see how you feel about it. It may also be just the thing you were looking for. They promote their people.

Okay now. I want you to repeat that back to me just so I make sure that you understand. Love you bunches and I expect to see you posting. As an aside, I want to thank you for always taking the time to come over, reading my post and vote me after leaving a genuine, and always complimentary comment.

Love, Denise

Wow, Denise. This is the best love letter I have ever received. Smiling and giggling with glee. After all the unexpected out-pouring of love from everyone. especially you, how can I not stay. More than the money for me is the time. I am a single mom; I work; write; and homeschool my son. I think I must also fold time somehow and not just laundry ... lol. I am going to re-evaluate my approach on here and hopefully come back new and improved. You speak of a little sweat for PowerHouseCreatives ... what do you mean? I think one thing for sure, I will have to find a better balance. I would just love to have more readership to page. I think then it would all be worth it regardless of the payout.

You are hands down one of the most beautiful and loving people on the planet. Don't ever change, gorgeous:)

Kisses, kisses, kisses:)

Awwww! You know it! You deserve every bit of this love from everyone. You have decorated the walls of this site with beauty and we just don't want to lose you.

I understand the time crunch, I am so pressed for time some days, I could cry. I get the homeschool time suck of time. I homeschooled three at once and not one of those plug and play curriculums, it was planned out by your truly, field trips and gym included. But, I l like it. It is the best education money can't buy.

Powerhousecreatives is a community of artists, writers, poets and the like. There is a place to put your post in when you post so people can peruse it and check out the interesting ones. There is a newbie room where you are welcomed and people try to meet and greet and check you out. So, it may be a place to try. I think you will like it. Your stuff is true quality, so I believe it is a good fit. Also the Freewrite with Marianne. I cannot believe you haven't done that... but, I can go on and on. Get over there and tell them Denise sent you. :)

Another good option is to join in some of the challenges that might be of interest to you. They always draw a crowd and the main thing is that it gets your name out there so that people recognize you and seek you out. You are a great photographer and this would work well with you. If all else fails, you are welcome to #MarketFriday. :) Well, you are always welcome there. I can hardly wait to see what you got!

It's a tough market out there right now, but, I have found that when it is tough like this, you foster better friendships and everyone sticks together because there are so few. So, toss out he anchor and be prepared to duel.

I challenge you. On Guard!

What the heck, you need another !tip .20

Kisses! xo

Thanks, Denise. I may try out Powerhouse. The other Denise suggested C-squared. I am just so busy. But I will think on it:)

I know that whatever you decide will be the right thing for you. It is better than sitting here and doing nothing. Right? And busy is my middle name. Just saying.

I am always soooo behind. Take your time and let your heart head guide you. Oh, scratch that. You tried that once. Love you!

I know you will make the right choice!

Love you too:)

This woman does have a way with words. You both do omg.

Thank you most sincerely for you wonderful letter to Pryde. She's an amazing talent. If SteemIt cannot keep her, frankly, it will not keep me. I only joined here because she brought me in.

Denise ... you are amazing woman and fantastic talent in your own right. I love that I know you. Funny ... this feed is turning into a love fest now. That's better:)

All the feels!

@momzillianc

We'll all try to steer her in a direction for more attention and better curation. She has amazing talent and frankly, Steemit is lucky to have her. I had no idea she brought you in. Well, you are a class act yourself. So, I can see why.

Do you like C-square? I'm not as familiar with the entire works of it, but, they do a great curating job. Thank you for your kind words, Denise.

Have a great day!

Thanks so much for helping lift her experience here. And, as you know, I'm a fan of yours too. Thank you for the tip.

Hey, did you see my paranormal-romance-tragedy novelette post? If not, grab your tissues… https://steemit.com/writing/@momzillanc/the-dance-plays-on-the-complete-novelette

Sad to hear @prydefoltz.

I wrote a long reply, but I didn't confident enough to share it yet, because I feel I don't have enough context yet.

Sorry to hear you get reprimanded for recycled content. It is something I often do when I post on multiple platforms, so I can't really blame you. Especially since you've never had any bad intentions with it and investes so much in the blockchain.

Thank you, Jean. What some people don’t understand is that what steem has always needed is readership and now they even need bloggers. I really don’t know that there is much that can be done. Personally questioning whether this block chain is reasonably worth any more time and effort because I have certainly given it that and with little to show. But I do appreciate you took both the time to read and comment

I will always take time for those who take time to read, upvote and/or comment on my content 😊.

For me that is a big part of the succes of a social blockchain. There has always been a financial and a content component to Steem. The first one often paying a much bigger role. There will always be a risk for Steem that other sites like Patreon, Twitch and even Facebook or Youtube become more viable options for creators, but I do think Steem has an awesome community. I think there is nothing wrong with looking at the ROI and possibly other options. At the same time. I would hate to see someone go who has always used steem with good intentions.

Thank Jean. I will be considering over the next few days:)

If it means anything, I really enjoy your work.

It's crazy that legitimate art has such a hard time gaining traction here, yet post after post after post about the same "crypto" story reaches high levels of readership.

I am sorry you're bummed and have not been treated well. I really am. I would like for you not to leave. I appreciate your work.

Thank you, wwwiebe. You made my night. i often wonder if anyone is reading. It heartens me that you are. Feel free to look me up on Facebook or twitter if I become scarce. I would welcome the company:)

"Ask yourself are you protecting the block chain or killing it?"

I am doing neither. I am here for the fun, not the money. Yes a bit of a reward is nice. Who knows what that may be worth someday...maybe more maybe less. Did someone say you are on a blacklist?

It is not exactly about the money. Although as I have said, steem has cost me money. A lot. But I also get so little interaction on here, Paul. Very few comments. I get a lot more interaction on Facebook to be honest. But I thought I'll stick around and use this as a blog and share it on my other platforms and maybe help grow steem and then this.

No ... the effort and care I am putting in far outweighs what I am getting back in fun or otherwise, with a few notable exceptions of course.

it is about cost/benefit really. I want to use my time in a way that moves things forward. Fortunately, you are also my facebook friend. I may just bot some upvotes to a few folks and take a break at least.

Well your last post is pushing 7 bucks and this here post has a good showing of comments. That seems pretty good to me. Try it again when communities are up and going perhaps...

What can I say ... all you beautiful people convinced me. I am just going to take a few days off and then post for my pleasure and fun, like you suggested.

This ends my whining period:):):)

I'm very sad to see you leave. I haven't earned anything from steemit either. But I am here to post my thoughts, and interact with people I have met here too. 😊

I'm sorry that you experienced bad things here. 😢

Thank you, gingbabida, but there is little to no interaction happening on here for me, unless I initiate it. To be honest, this is the best response I have gotten in a long time. I wanted to help grow the block chain but if I am now to be left of the loop, it would be all uphill for me, wouldn't it? There has gotta be an easier way. Feel free to look me up on twitter of FB if the mood strikes you:)

Sure @prydefoltz! I don't have a twitter account, but I have FB. 😊

I really enjoy looking at your work and it would be sad to see you stop posting. I know the feeling about all these issues. I keep hoping that things will improve yet there are some frustrating things. I still enjoy posting about my Actifit steps because I like to exercise everyday and it helps me motivate for that and gets me out taking pictures.

I think I may just take a short hiatus and think on how to move forward. I have so appreciated your support and your posts:)

I don’t know about soft blackball lists, but I do feel like it’s a struggle here at times.
You have to have a dedicated audience and if I am not using the right hashtags, I get nowhere.
If I post via APPICS, I will barely make 20 cents while people rave about how good it is.

The only place I have made any real money is via Splinterlands and I too have yet to take any Steem out of the ecosystem. The local exchange wants a minimum of AU$50 (240 Steem), and the price of Steem is so bad that no one at our local Steem meetings wants to sell it.

You were here before I started and it’s sad to see people leave platform, but at the same time if that platform isn’t serving you like it should then alternatives need to be sought out.

Thanks, Shane. Things are looking up a little I suppose. I am touched by the response I am getting here today.

I'd hate for you to leave here or any platform really. But I can certainly understand the frustration. The Steem price does affect everything as in, it affects what happens once it gets converted back into FIAT and people can do stuff with it.

I do wish that there was more of a use-case for Steem and that there were more people accepting it. But I also wish that those that are enthusiasts were more likely to gift it rather than cheap upvotes.

I do like it here in the sense that I can create my own content and be a part of a community and hopefully make a positive impact in someone's life.

I don’t know what happened but don’t let one asshole cause you to Leave the platform. It’s Hard to get an audience anywhere these days, algorithms and attention spans , you know I’ve always been for reposting. I am trying to revive the deadpost initiative as a reposting community. I’d love if you stuck around but first I need to know who is going to downvote the posts.

Thank you, whatamidoing. I don't think anyone other than those pesky bot accounts will actually downvote the account. It is more a question of support. Don't worry:)

Sad to see when someone’s invested so much time and effort into their blog that they would up and leave! I understand everyone is free to chose what they do with their time and effort and if they can or feel they get a better deal somewhere else they should go for it!

I think this places was marketed to people incorrectly and it was always about the money and that’s the focus of a lot of what goes on here!

It’s still a very small community about 30k users daily! I think that speaks for itself JB the amount of teething issues it has in attracting and maintaining users! But I’m hopefully, I feel I was just far too early and that it gets better with some of the new developments I see coming

If you do decide to leave I hope you save your keys so if this place does get it’s act together you’ll make a return!

Thank you, Chekohler. I think you understand things quite well. For sure, I will keep my keys. Everyone has been so supportive over this. I think I may just take a little breather and decide how to proceed from there.

Passions run high here because we know what this place can be and it’s potential going unfulfilled is frustrating for all involved! A little breather is great for creativity, maybe even explore other platforms and you can come back with some constructive suggestions that can help improve things

We tend to be in a bubble here so outside feedback is well needed

I think the most obvious change is to get steemit out of Beta.

Oh I agree! It’s been a long process to get us here and we still don’t have an easier way of creating accounts or logging in either! When I look at what steempeak are doing you can see the potential and what this place can become but how long will the wait be for this potential to be realized is nu worry! This place does have a leg up over other crypto projects for sure but for how long?

Oh, Pryde. I'm so sorry to hear that. Your work is wonderful and I love being able to support it financially in even the minuscule way of upvotes and my @c-squared curation. You brought me to SteemIt and I sincerely hope you won't leave.

Thanks Denise. I think I may just take a breather and re-evaluate the time and effort I spend here. Everyone has been so supportive over this and I am actually quite touched. Also I was feeling at monthly low yesterday ... if you get me drift. Things are looking up:)

Ah… the red drift. I'm glad I'm done with that.

Get yourself a chai and a few bites of dark chocolate, then settle in with your heating pad and a good book for an hour or two.

I hope you'll keep posting new stuff here. I post a couple of times a week on average. The rest of the time, I curate. I find I quite like supporting the content I value that way. And, I try to support the curators I trust. Have you joined @c-squared on Discord? It's the most convenient curating group I've found.

Thanks Denise. Time is always a factor with me. I work, homeschool my son and write. Just so busy. I think I will stick around but pull back a lot on here.

Don't pull back too much, please.

I enjoy your poetry and art fictions photography. Please, you do not leave this platform and i wish you will come back soon. It is also difficult to me here i post regular because i am busy different work. But i do because i like all of your writing and photography.

Thank you so much, Kam. I do value your input on the block chain and your readership. Think I am going to just take a day or two of rest:)

Congratulations @prydefoltz!
