RE: Why is the Steem Price Low? How Do We Fix It?

in #steem6 years ago

You can see the reputation score go into the negative. An example is Biblegateway They have a minus reputation score, And It looks like it got that way by means of religious bias. Imagine what happens when someone posts a picture of a MAGA hat. The door is wide open for religious and political persecution. And with no legal recourse, no due process...just a lynch mob.

Sort:

They got the negative rep by spamming links to every post that has been posted. There are many bible bumping users in 70+ REP. It is all about presentation, not ideas or thoughts.

Check out @trumpman he has a MAGA Icon and is high rep and high wallet. I have also used a MAGA hat in images. I personally think religious and political views are personal and not meant for the public broadcasting of personal views but I wouldn't waste a flag on either.

So it is a DAPP issue. That is a technical problem with the platform not the abuser. The platform actually is allowing the spamming. The problem of DAPPs therefore needs to be addressed. We shouldn't have to chase the tail of the snake. It needs to be cut off at the head. Technical issues require technical solutions.
There are two issues here. The first issue is miscreant members, the second is the DAPPs. Let's keep those separate for the purpose of clarity. I can't talk to a bot. No one can. Perhaps the bots should not be there in the first place because they give an unfair advantage. That makes it a security issue for the platform to address.

I am not qualified to discuss the DAPPs. I see them as a problem. You should as well. They are taking unfair advantage of the reward pool.

Putting enforcement in the hands of the criminals is not a good plan either.

I don't have all the answers. I do however, see two problems here. The flag and the DAPPs.

With a 30 window of exposure on Steemit, you don't have the luxury of time for defense.

I have no idea what you are talking about with a 30 second window.

@cleverbot do you know?

Thats how long your article stays in view on either the "New" category or by the keyword. I have never seen one of my articles in the "Trending" or the"Hot" but in the new I exist for about 30 seconds. Then I fall off the radar. After about a minute you have to scroll quite a bit to find me. That is the reality I see. Any upvotes I get happen in the first 30 seconds, rarely ever any later. Mostly bots.

Have you tried using steem.chat to make connections with other like minds? If you care to join, I can introduce you to others who might be interested in your music as they dabble in music themselves.

I would probably be still sitting at under 40 REP if I had not found chat and made the friends I have made. As a social media you have to remember building friendships is from scratch, most votes will not come from just posting cool shit.

Thank you for your great tip. Yes I found steemchat a couple of days ago. and I have been making acquaintances already. This is a great way to promote posts, and talk about Steemit with others. So far I really like the chat. Of course there are jerks there too.

We always need balance, you cannot feel kindness unless you've experienced someone unkind.

I would greatly value your introductions. Thank you so much for your kind offer of help.

Hey, look at that. My rep just went up from 37 to 38. YIPPIE!

Why do I have to sit?

Nobody care's about a damn bot that can't say a full sentence correctly.
