1 God is our refuge and strength, our quick help in tribulations. 2 Therefore, we will not fear, even if the earth is taken away, And the mountains are transferred to the heart of the sea; 3 Though their waters roar and are disturbed, And the mountains tremble for their courage. "Psalm 46: 1-3 Reina-Valera 1960 (NKJV)".

The psalmist says that "God is our quick help in tribulations." To talk about protection and trust in God's help, it is necessary to experience the strong winds that hit life and drag it through sufferings and tribulations.

In the calamities that are presented to us in life we seek a safe protector, and that, of course, is God. The psalmist says that "God is our refuge and strength." This reminds me of an experience the eldest daughter of the pastor of the church had where I congregated. I remember that one morning, when we left Sunday school, the young woman began to experience severe pain in her belly and the pain was so intense that there was no alternative but to take her to the doctor. After doing all the exams, the results indicated that the girl had a fierce cancer. The life of the pastoral family changed dramatically and this generated afflictions of all kinds, both spiritual and emotional. The girl was immediately transferred to a hospital within the country and the spiritual battle began. The pastor took refuge in God, but the doctors gave the young woman a few days to live. However, the girl maintained her firm faith that God had the glorious power to heal her. The girl took refuge in God, she knew that her help was soon God and not men. When everything seemed that the girl was going to die, God did the great miracle. Today the girl is also pastor of a very large congregation.

When we take refuge in our God, we can live completely sure that "God is our refuge and strength, our quick help in tribulations."
