The fear of failure has held a lot of great minds in the world from achieving their greatness or reaching their full potential. This is because they were probably too scared to take a chance at what they were going after. This fear, is usually backed up by various factors, like;
- Ridiculing by peers
- fear of rejection
- loss of reputation
- fear of being looked at, as a naïve optimist
These are some but definitely not all of the reasons why so many people fear failure. They do not want to be filled with the feeling of underachieving, or being given the badge of a failure. It is understandable that nobody wants to fail in life, but what people fail to realize most times, not all, is that failure is necessary for success.
I say most times because, even geniuses have failed at proving various thesis or theories, and they've continued with their lives or probably try to prove it from another angle. Many a time when we fail, we see what we did wrong, and are able to analyse from it what will work.
This is why I believe that failure is a prerequisite for success in most cases. It helps to check our faults and ensures the person makes better effort about it the next time.
Now, there are some people who have hardly failed at anything in their lives, so when most of them are faced with a task that they seem not to be able to overcome, they run or return to their comfort zone of no-failure, and simply tag such a thing as "not for them". Now for some cases, it is true that certain things are not for some people but it would be better to try and give something your effort and time before you call it quits.
It is good that a person learns early in life how to handle failure by trying harder and making more effort, as this is one of the hardest lessons to learn in life.
So for whoever is reading this out there, whatever it is that you are going through, I hope you stay steadfast, and not give up on it easily, keep pushing and you'll eventually get your desired result!!
Thanks for reading.

The fear of failure has held a lot of great people from actually being realized, they have been held back because they were unable to make the necessary sacrifice and courageous step required to push them forward.
