The official website of the Steem Comic Convention is live! However, definitely consider it a "soft launch" currently, as there is a lot of work to be done and improvements to be made. The site consists of a fairly simple Wordpress implementation used to wrap up curated comics & geek related content pulled from the Steem blockchain.
While the site is already spotlighting some users by displaying their posts and featured links to blog pages, we'd like to also include official advertising banners from bloggers and creators as well.
If you have a personal blog or project to advertise that falls within the geeky realms of the Steem Comic Convention, please submit it as a comment in this thread. In particular we're looking for three standard sizes...
728 x 90 px; 300 x 250 px; 125 x 125 px;
Limited animation is fine, but let's try not to induce any seizures! Content should be on topic and ads should be all ages friendly. (The content it links to can be "not safe for work" but should probably be labelled as such either in the ad or the ad should direct to a landing page which advises of this fact.) Final placement and participation of any ads is completely at the discretion of the Steem Comic Convention!
In your reply, please link the graphic file and specify the html link it should point to when displayed as an advertisement.
There is no charge for these ad slots. While that could change in the future, the plan currently is not to ever charge anything out of pocket for promotional opportunities such as this. As community tools continue to develop, advertising opportunities will most likely be rewards given to community members for the value they add to the community through their content, participation, and curation.
So help the Steem Comic Convention build its ad inventory, test out some systems and designs, and get yourself a bit of free promotion! Get a sneak peek at the site here, and submit your ads below!
How is this project going? I think all of us, comic creators, should think about ways to promote our craft on Steemit. I'm sure we can build a great environment. Also I have a comic project I can submit for the website! I contact you later on with my banners! ;-)
I'll admit it's stalled at the moment! As I've been getting more active on creating comics, it's been difficult to balance multiple projects but I still hold out hope that I'll settle into more of a rhythm of productivity. I'm also waiting to see how certain tools progress... the ChainBB forum's future development is in question right now and the hope that official community features are around the corner is ever present. So we'll see!
But please do still submit any banners so that I can build a repository of them no matter what is to come. All about helping promote!
Oh cool. I'll send them over.
I think comics could really thrive in here with the right features. It's only a niche market but there are so many talented (& broke) artists that need such system.
Illustrations seems to be the trend for now. And I'm fine with that.
Maybe having a messaging plateform for comic creators would allow us to exchange ideas, trouble, collaboration project when they come to mind.
I have a streamer here:

Fantastic! Just the kind of stuff we're looking for! Just plugged it into a banner slot. Thanks for the submission.
Squeeeeeeee!!!! I'm on a comic con!
Does this mean I already "have an ad" or if I wanted to give you a super cool picture you guys would advertise Ithaqa a little bit more?
I actually need to update my booth on your site, cause we have a website now!
The ad slots are separate from the content feeds I'm working on building out. So yes, please feel free to drop some advertising banners here that would link direct to your new site if you'd like! Of course your articles on the Steem blockchain and Ithaqa in general will be getting linked to and have coverage regardless though!
Currently I actually scrapped the earlier "registration" system that you and some others had made use of. Sorry to have put you through it for nothing! It was a bit unwieldy and the Steem Comic Convention will just be creating some dedicated articles and listing pages for folks such as you in the not too distant future that you'll be welcome to provide info and edits on!
