INTRODUCTION
For many weeks already I've been testing and comparing the results of different ways of promoting my articles on steemit. And quickly I came to a realization that spending resources to boost post into the trending page isn't the best possible decision you can make.
Seeing my post in the trending page is great, but somehow very disappointing. Instead of the expected higher traffic of real humans I attracted more bots. It seems that there are plenty of bots that are targeting mostly those particular posts. The ones that end up on the trending page.
RESTEEMING BOTS
I've also tested several times using resteeming bots. I found them way more efficient and using those services each time allowed me to reach out to several new steemit users. Which was more than I could achieve by just appearing on the "trending page".
Additionally, the amount of spam and bots visiting my post has also been reduced. So at the end of the day, I think that using this form of marketing brings better results.
And now big question: WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH RESTEEMING BOTS? Would you recommend spending money on this form of advertising?

This is a very nice topic that you have choosen. I've experimented with resteem bots at the beginning but it didn't bring that much in my eyes. When I think about resteem bots I wonder what kind of people would follow such bots? And how many other such bots would they follow? In the end a person who follows resteem bots might get a feed litterally plastered with resteems. So will they see your post? I honestly wonder.
I think it is a huge challenge to get people to see your post on steemit and there are some other answers:
Using the Memo to get people to see your post
Using the memo to send messages seems to be a good means to get people to read your article. I've seen your memo and that's the reason why I've visited your article. Do I mind to get the memo? No, because I also get 0.003 steem at the same time which is compensation enough I believe.
Attract readers from outside Steemit
In the end when we blog on steemit, it is as if we blogged on wordpress or blogspot. People don't just turn up for nothing. They want added value and good content. To get more readers, we should use external ressources like traditional social media or even e-mail marketing to bring readers to our posts. We should also think about optimising our articles so that they are SEO friendly. I've written a post about that.
I believe it is not enough just to post stuff on steemit to be successful. Steemit offers much more possibilities than other blogging platforms but there is hard work behind most of the success stories.
I actually think this will be the future of Steemit. Where we can make communities and pay steem or SBD for people with similar interests to share on their facebook and twitter accounts. I know I would love a community like this to find more real estate clients.

I believe that if received memo would be related to any paid advertisement or some rubbish not related to your interests then it would annoy you.
I figured that it's best not to use mass memos for anything that can be considered advertisement. That easily may upset many people. Other than that this form of building reach seem to be working amazingly.

Well, I have to admit that I agree with the words of @achim03, I've ended up here for your memo, I'm very interested in read his post, (I will this weekend, I hope). But personally, @crypto.piotr , I'm not a bot lover, I'm not saying I didn't use them ( I don't remember doing it but not totally sure) or that I won't in the future (you never know), but It's not the reason steemit was created.
This exist to grow more and more every day, and It's better if we do it in a proper way.

yea, the 0.003 is probably a good idea since i tend to subconsciously already filter out every 0.001 transfer unless im actively checking it, its what got it noticed, but you got the mail now, piotr ... (@crypto.piotr) i proposed a simple messaging system once to @timcliff but he said its too much work lol (assuming the rest of the hightowers who arent all software engineers rather like simply running their nodes and getting the money than improving the ui ...·)

I'll have to disagree bud.
The vast portion of those bots use scripts to mass follow other users. There's a return follow rate of about 10% and that's why you can see that bots with 30k followers have followed accounts north of 300k.
Plus, just think about it, who actually follows back when some one follows them? New users--and a vast portion of them go inactive. There is a very clear customer for those bots but I don't want to get into that.
+100 isnt worth it.

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. I never care about amount of new followers. I care about number of comments coming from new human accounts.
Having post in trending page is bringing worse results than using resteeming bots. That's my impression. Obviously both methods are not really great. But one is better than the other.
At the end of the day both methods are being used by many people and whenever I used 10-15 SBD on resteeming bots - I would get comments from 5-15 users I've never knew before. So result was okey.

What about comment quality?
When I mentioned the follow4follow, I was referring to how those bots get their followers--those are impulse-based follows, generally providing little follow-up results. Concluding, the comment quality is likely very low.
Here's the thing: anyone can use these services due to their low cost barrier; so they can be easily flooded with weak content. So, if a few value-adding users manage to be those bots' audience, they'd soon unfollow after noticing that those bots do not curate.

i follow everyone back 1:1 on my main account but i have to admit i check the feed very rarely, only when i'm giving out smallvotes by the @isnochys series ( i never even as much as look at hot or trending since its bound to be pop-culture upthere lol)

My experience with resteem-bots is that they are not worth the money... But maybe it's just my content. I am not using them anymore, for a while now. But who knows in the future. Maybe you can make a conclusion post, with what bots are best in your opinion and why!

My personal expecience with using resteeming bots is a so far quite positive. Definetly results are better comparing results received from upvoting post into trending page.
Whenever I would spent 15-20 SBD on resteeming bots I would get 5-10 valuable new contacts (comments from people I didnt know who are blogging about crypto). So I would say that it was worth it so far. But it really depends on resources and expectations.
But who knows. Maybe soon I will also change my mind. Perhaps Im just to over optimistic :) Thx again for sharing your view. I appreciate it a lot! :)

oh dear , we had a power outage like right after i posted the message, lucky me or it would have been lost ... (don't mind me doubleposting since i have some new intel on the matter here), so i'm outside my usual schedule now :|
a bot named @merlin7 just advertisted itself, it promises 100% vote @12.000 SP plus re-steem to 1000 followers ... this is not exact
it does re-steem and it does vote , but that 100% means 100% sbd to steem return, as you can see in the screenshot , i got a 0.6 vote for 0.6 steem , which is 66% as it shows in the json even its a 66/100 vote, and i dont think i had much more after that BUT ... the 100%SBD/STEEM ratio, despite the fact that it's misleading advertising might make this one one to keep an eye on, if it gives 0.60 for 0.6 steem and it grows in followers , then it should be the best out there in a while, ...

Great Post ! I use @botcoin and delegated my steem power to that bot. I found that its a great bot and I am making a reasonable income every 2.4 hours with this bot ! The bot also resteem every post! This is a great bonus since not to many bots are doing that! Let me know if you think the same and witch bot you guys are using .

If i delegate.....
Do I get Upvote or just Re-Steem? Is there a curation trail?
What percentage, of curation reward and bid purchases, are distributed and what is kept? 2 part here CURATION and BID EARNINGS...
If I delegate say 10% of total pool, and I buy 0.01 upvote, do I effective get 10% of that? Kinda a follow up to the question above.
Currently delegators egets 85% of profit paid each round ( 2.4 hours ) If you want to get upvotes and r3esteem you must use the bot > send bids < Curation is assigned to the bit to get bigger for now at least ( bot needs to grow )
Min. bid is 0.1 and you can follow the bid value as this will change as the bot grows. ( currently about 0.07 )- Depending on the steem value...
I use the bot on mostly all my post and a few more accounts as well ...

Ive also done a little experimentation with bid bots vs upvote bots and I agree upvote bots get you very little exposure and interaction from other steemians it’s really only their for steemians to abuse at this point! While it should be used to upvote someone when your vote isn’t worth much it’s better to just direct donate, since most people don’t know how to use the bid bots correctly they spam these bots and don’t allow people who use them to make much profit, if any!
Resteem bots will get you more views but since we don’t have a view counter per article anymore we won’t know how much not that that matters too much! They whole point of resteeming is to get more interaction and you will get it but at a loss in ROI in the short term and your also not gaurenteed to reach steemians who would be interested in your content it’s a bit of a shot in the dark
My idea would be to have resteem bots per category or similar categories so if I like food posts I want to follow thay resteem bot and get all the food resteems would make it much more targeted
Not really. Have you tried to follow a resteembot? The only thing they do is flooding your feed, but that's all.
Yes i have and its exactly as you say. Thats why i said if the bots could be used to only promote posts on certain tags and people dont abuse them we could see the content they share improve our feeds
Then, why don't you press the tag button instead of go and view the bots feed? Do you know there's an efficient way to check on tags where you finished your post, the next thing is to click on your own tag to find like minded people that using the same tag?
To me, resteeming service itself is a total waste of time. In the end, communication makes the most out of it. One need to spend 80% of their time curating others and leave comment to make connection, not only by resteeming. I don't simply resteem other people's post, unless it's a necessarily information I wish my followers to read. I'm more than worried if my resteem would pissed my follower off.

I do view content by tags, just not as often as perhaps yourself and others, all im saying is not EVERY user is going to do that. We all have our ways of using the site.
I get you're not a fan of the system you made that clear, so lets come up with options to improve it not throw the thing away.
I agree i also don't resteem anything i feel isn't something im interested it should almost be as if i wrote it myself thats how inline i must be with the content to resteem it

Yes, it will initially but if the bot continues to help facilitate more relevant connections its value to users increase, its use increases and its price can increase per resteem it demands. A market-related service if you will, well in my mind it makes sense.

The thing is that what I care at the end of the day is simple: how many new users interested with crypto found me and commented my post. Amount of upvotes or views doesnt matter (I think).

the best way to grow an account in steemit is:
to write a lot (and keep persistent in quality)
comment a lot (meaningful)
buy a lot of SP
which i don't have enough time to do so 😏

It's hard to believe about the resteeming bots, because some bots are handled the closest thing to a scam. Although I must admit that many do a good job of really promoting the posts...

It's nice to hear you've attracted some readers from resteem bots, I guess it depends on what we're up to here on Steem - do we want to attract a higher payout on our posts, or genuine interaction with people, or somewhere inbetween.
I don't see any issue using resteem bots and I'd be curious to see you comment personally on which ones you would recommend for unique/creative content creators to use who are more after creating a community (long-term value) rather than pumping the value of their posts in the short-term.
Also, can I ask if you used a to send mass memos to people? It's a great way to pull an audience (as you can see from the comments holy sh*t)

sending memos is actually very efficient. the thing is that before I did sent those 300-400 memos I actually visited each of those spammed accounts to make sure that Im only bothering people who are blogging about crypto.

Using these bots, in my opinion, is a waste of resources. But everything will depend on the type of publication. When it comes to contests it is beneficial because the main trends are reviewed by the other contestants and this can give more votes and also gain some followers. On the other hand, when it comes to own publications with original content that are directed to a general public, it does not bring any benefit, since in these cases there are other types of strategies such as a good offer in the Title and a striking image.
Another negative point for these bots, is that due to the number of inorganic votes they provide with respect to the reward of the publication, the chances that you can get cures from some important communities or whales decrease, this is because these entities not is convenient to distribute Steem Power among a number of bots.
In conclusion, being among the first positions of tendency of a label is only a visual satisfaction, because as a reward it does not deliver anything. It is preferable, once you have received the amount of organic votes possible to invest in some bots to enhance the publication.
There are two bot that I used a while ago @smartmarket and @smartsteem.

The big question here is: "Who are they resteeming your post to?" They have thousands of followers because they send wallet messages to thousands of people but are any of the followers actually active and do their followers interact with their posts? My experience with resteem bots is you get creepy followers and some weird comments on your posts, mostly spam. It is really up to you. If you want interactions with real people you have to seek them out and make friends with them, but if you prefer shallow interaction, then resteem service may be for you.
Maybe its the content?
I think your comment contest is a great idea and produces a lot more interaction than any resteem service.
Thanks I do see the need for them and upvote bots... Here at least anyone can delegate steem power, sell a vote or offer a resteem service and get a piece of the pie. Without investors and people wanting to make money on this platform we would lose a lot of value as much of the steem power would not be here imo.

I use the bid-bot service by steem bot tracker. I've found it to be most helpful in making your page appearing in Steem's "trending" posts and at times, you can pick up a human or two here and there. Also, making sure you tag the post with one of the top trending tags is how to best reach real humans in my opinion. Thanks for your note on my page!

I personally consider resteem bots a waste of money. Very few valuable accounts actually follow a resteem bot. I know that I wouldn't want a resteem bots resteems in my feed.
Most of the accounts that follow resteem services are either too new to Steemit to know better, dead accounts that were once new and never stuck around to realise that following a bot is absurd, or the accounts are bots themselves. There's also a tonne of fake accounts out there that are quite likely to follow these services to bolster numbers.
You won't find good quality people through resteem services. I'd advise against sending money to them.

I think in this case you're attributing the contacts you've found to resteem bots while, in reality, those people found your post as a result of the tags you used or your position on the trending or hot page.
Tags are far more effective than resteem bots. If you want to spend that SBD then I would suggest putting it into voting bots to get your post ranking more highly on the trending page. That will get you in front of a lot more people in comparison to resteem services.
Like I said, no one follows a resteem service. There's absolutely no reason to follow one of these bots if you ever want to look at your feed again.

Nice information. I have experienced some resteeming bots, although one can get lot of upvote but problem here is the upvote are worth nothing and one can't get the amount even he spent for using the service.

Resteeming bots are far better than upvoting bots when it comes to promoting one's article in the sense that the targeted audience will be eventually met. Using upvoting bots makes me think people are only concerned with the rewards and nothing more which makes me overlook such posts. It is very disappointing seeing some badly written posts at the trending page!

Im using upvoting bots and I found it really not profitable. The only reason why Im using it is because it allows all currators who upvoted my post receive some reward. And that actually is one hell of a reason to use them. Wouldn't you agree that there are also benefits coming from upvoting bots? Practiacally the only way of getting any reward as curator = upvoting post which will be promoted later on to trending page. Other than that curators may hardly ever get any reward worth their time.

I don't think you can say which type of service is necessarily better. I'd say bots are good for getting SBD, but resteeming is good for Followers. Having said that, once you've resteemed for a while on the same bots, it gets harder to get new followers.
What would make this post v. useful is whether the Resteem is instantaneous, for timing is really important for getting the rewards within 30mins. It's annoying when you send SBD to a resteem service and it deliberately gets left after 30 mins.
I like gangresteem for one, as it's instant.
It would be nice to see Resteem bots /humans focused on particular subjects more, that way people would follow more, and enjoy having them in feeds. ?

I have read articles in the past that suggested paying for voting bots isn't a productive idea and sometimes one also ends up with lower return.
Resteeming seems like good idea. May be some of these bots are good. And again, it helped you find and meet new people, which is what matters. Any service, in the end, should help you get the desired result.

Honestly speaking bot using be it resteem or upvote i dont know which is more profitable, it depends on what you want though, i have a friend who rose to unimaginable height on steemit by using bot, at the end what is good for me might not be too good for you. Personally i prefer an organic growth. But its a good post and a question you raised in your post well done sir.
