I spent today experimenting with the Steem API and made a first project. Enter your username and it shows how quickly your Steem Power will recover over the next 5 days:
Its based on what I've read about steem power recovery (i.e. 20% every day) - though I will update this as I understand it better. I've cross checked the numbers against the existing tools I could find (i.e. this one). It took a lot longer than I had anticipated to make, since as a relative programming novice I struggled to read the object from the Steemit API.
It's just based off some spare space on a friend's server so you'll have to be patient as the numbers update after clicking the button. Otherwise, have a go yourself and let me know what you think!

Update #1:
- people are having problems viewing it on an iPad, it keeps expanding on the page. Let me know if it works/ doesn't work for you if you have one too. [Update #2: hopefully this is now fixed]
- it appears to not work if you put the first character as a capital - I'll update the code in the next iteration, but for now write 'ned' rather than 'Ned' [Update #2: this is now fixed]
Wow, that was awesome. I saw a font bigger than the entry filed when I first visited. It may be a bug. But the final output looks fine.

This is awesome! I always check steemd.com and refresh the page every 10-15 minutes but now I can just check it in just a matter of seconds! Thank you :-). This needs to be reblog! - also, added to my bookmarks.

What are you viewing it on? I've just updated it for a fix which I hope should solve problems that were on mobile devices (specifically ipads).
I tried clicking on the link in Google Crome (http://steemforthe.win/) and have now tried it in Explorer. Neither worked. Explorer however, then directed me to this address: https://p2x.co.uk/steemftw/
This subsequently opened in both Explorer and Crome!

Doesn't seem to work on iPad, the screen just keeps growing wider and wider and wider and......
I'm not able to recreate the problem unfortunately - I just have an Amazon tablet and F12 seems to display ok with ipads. It's just standard bootstrap so theoretically it should not do anything like that. I'll update the post with a question to see if others are having the same problem.
I've posted a 20 second video showing what happens. It will continue until nothing is on the viewable screen. It does work fine on my desk top.

Someone else in the comments reported the same problem with an ipad. I've just uploaded a new version which I think will fix it, but it's hard to tell as I don't have an ipad!
