Steemians
How does stop a post from sinking without trace?
Ok I get the basics of writing about something interesting and pinning a few interesting images into the post to break up the words and keep things pleasant to look at but how do you keep your post accessible for STEEMIT users long enough for them to at least make their minds up whether they want to read it or not?
As soon as I post, I see it appear in the 'new' section and it might last there for another 30 seconds before it evaporates away as if it had never existed.
Is it rude to ask for a resteem at the end of the post?
Is it rude to ask people to upvote for it?
Are there any other strategies that we can use to give ourselves a fighting chance?
Please RESTEEM ;-)
Post Update : I've just seen an article posted by another well established steemian who has a 500 following with lots of useful hints and tips that could make the difference to your efforts...check out :

you are absolutely right. But what else can be expected though? So many posts being created. I mean imagine when user base reaches a million. It seems as steemit grows this problem will get bigger. Part of the reason is I think majority whales just auto vote for their trusted authors, true whale curation seems to be in minority. But as number of dolphins increase this might change for better. However they are also chasing after their financial gains. I think this topic should be discussed extensively in the community. Asking resteem, follow, upvote I think is rude, unless you make a generic logo and keep it as footnote for all of your post. Resteeming this because I think you raise an important issue. Thanks for link too I will check it out.
On a side note strategizing seems to be the name of this game.

lol I did already
Good question... I often do ask for at least a resteem as minnow posts do sink very fast. Sometimes I get great responses, other times I don't so I would love to hear an answer to your question too.

ok I will. I just made this

I also agree with the sentiment of this post...As a new steemian, unless I have a huge following, it's hard to get noticed. It's a little demoralizing if you create a REALLY interesting post and you see it get BURIED within seconds and doesn't get any traction.
I'm not salty, I'm just aware that it's going to take a while to gain the following without seeming desperate.
I love the community and I'm here for the long haul...I hope that you are too.

What are the odds that this article comes out so soon after, lol!! Thank you for the share...it was quite entertaining.
Have a great weekend!
As far as etiquette goes, I feel it's good to ask for an upvote and resteem at the end of your article, but don't go around begging for it on everyones posts and in PM chat. Yes, if you are talking to someone sure. But just to PM a beg? Not very classy imho
I actually touched on that briefly just a few minutes ago!

Agreed.
I draw the line at begging for forgiveness and sex.
Ah, good rules to live by.
:)
Id love to find out the answer to this as well. New here and figure its very relevant. Cheers.

There is an alternative experience - use chainBB forum.
Here is your article on chainBB: https://steemit.com/steemit/@g-no/i-don-t-want-to-kiss-whale-butt
Steemit publishes your article in each stream of your tags. ChainBB publishes your article in the forum related to your first tag. So in the future, think carefully about your first tag. #steemit has a torrent of articles, but #steem-help has fewer, just as examples.
Also, when there is a comment, the article is bumped to the top on chainBB, just like most other forums. This means it rewards conversations rather than just upvotes.
Congratulations @g-no! You have completed some achievement on Steemit and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :
Award for the number of comments
