RE: Daily Steem Stats Report - April 13 - STEEM is up 45%

in #steemit6 years ago

I've got a friend who just joined here in steemit, he made his best post that I believe of quality but got only 1.07 of upvote, he was so discouraged and never made a post again. How are we going to encourage new users like him? Here's his post for you to see if it was of quality or not: https://steemit.com/adventure/@ergel-john/my-adventure-to-bagsit-river-2020f50019b71

Well according to his blog, your friend only did two posts and then left. It's hard to build a followership if you don't constantly engage with the community over a longer time. It took me 5 months to be actually seen and that was in 2016 with a smaller number of users :-) So it really requires patience and consistency.

But Steem lacks curation towards the smaller accounts in general. There are a couple of services that dedicate their time to identify and reward new content creators. But the large majority of rewards is distributed among those who've been here since the beginning and those who pay for their votes (bid bots). So if you're new and don't have the money, then you'd have limited chances to succeed in the short term.

Mostly I tell new users to start producing video content for @dlive and engage with their community on discord. From my personal point of view the user experience on DLive.io is much better than on steemit.com. There may be other nice apps, but that's my personal favourite on the Steem blockchain :-)

@surfermarly couldn't agree more! People expect that just because they write good content they will automatically get the recognition and payouts that they deserve. Thats not how it works on here - people forget its a social media platform so you have to get to know people and build your following.

You cant expect everyone to know who you are on the first day - or even the first week or month. Ive been on here 2 months and its been hard, but fun but im finally starting to get more followers and a few more upvotes.

For me I dont have money to invest in Steem so ill just slowly keep grinding away my account! :)

Well you hit the nail. This is actually not a money printing machine.

Also what you're supposed to receive in re-turn for your efforts is a re-ward, and the RE has a meaning here :-)

I got it Ma'm, patience and consistency are needed to succeed in this platform, along with good contents and engagement...Thank you for the advice, I will always remember that.

noting that this steemer may not have done any curation / commenting either, commenting may help to become known / make friends one can suppose

Hello I had less than that at the beginning but still here I continue and every day this community grows and new friends are made and there are many people who help us who are starting
