Is Steemit bullshit??

At the time of writing I have exactly 541 followers. You may not be impressed by this number but it is more than I could have ever hoped for.

There is something strange though. Although my number of followers seems to be increasing, none of them ever seems to like anything I have to say. Now, this is entireley possible. I don't pretend to put out very interesting or high quality content. But if it is indeed me who is putting out the bullshit, wouldn't you expect to get comments, downvotes and a decreasing number of followers?

This is not to say that I don't get any comments. Usually there is at least somebody offering an upvote or resteem service in exchange for steem. This sounds like a scam to me. But even if it isn't, an upvote or resteem bot? Really?? As if there isn't already enough fakery in the world.

This post is not about attrackting more followers, getting more upvotes or rewards. I chose Steemit to test out my writing skills and maybe to get a discussion going on some of the toppics I care about. This is not happening.

Keep it real Steemit or this Steemian will be checking out real soon!

Yeah, why do people follow us? I ask that same question. You would think that if you suck, then you'll lose followers, and that does happen to some degree. But more so, most people run around on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, following people, and it is a habit many fell into for the past ten or more years, since the early 2000's for many people around the world as a trend, and addiction, and I fell into that habit at times. People take their habits onto Steemit, generally. Yeah, there are exceptions, but people tend to do what they do on Steemit whatever they have been doing on the other social networks for so many years now, both good and bad habits.

You are probably right. Personally I only follow people I am interested in and do my best to keep that list up to date across all social networks. I unfollow not just because people aren't very good in my opinion but also because my interests have sometimes simply changed.

It i like pruning a rose bush.

That is, to some level, very true. The capitalism killed the original goals of the platform a long time ago. That is why great threads are available on Quora, Stackoverflow, Medium and Bitcointalk. Over here, it's about who made what and who has what.

To the question in your title, my Magic 8-Ball says:

It is certain

Hi! I'm a bot, and this answer was posted automatically. Check this post out for more information.

Oh well, that covers it than!

lol, that was some good shit :)

But seriously, I saw someone do a study on the distribution of wealth on steemit. It turns out the wealth disparity is worse here than on any known society. It even blows away North Korea. Like the top 30 accounts hold half the steem power. I don't recall the exact specifics, but the top couple hundred whales have all the steem power and they just upvote themselves for hundred dollar votes, while the rest of us hope for maybe a penny or two.

Best thing to do is delegate any steem power you have to one of the bots and get a steady stream of pennies.

Thanks for the tip!

Yes and I like the wide variety of wealth on Steemit.
