My open letter to everyone writing open letters - stick a fork in it!

in #steemit4 years ago

Steem probably amazes me more than ever. The concept behind it and how it functions and now things like steemit adding communities. I think it’s great, always things can be improved but such is life.

My observation in crypto is that many of the companies are a clown show. There are lots of talented and smart people involved in crypto so not trying to paint all those involved as such but as for many of the companies involved - Ha.

When I first came to steemit I did a quick google search after a solid 5 mins of research I realized this place was started in a shady haphazard way by people who often looked to be in it for an easy buck. I quickly joined! It had all the ingredients for a great time on the internet.

Fast forward Tron buys this place (steemit stake) my first thought is “why” which will prolly never be answered, not sure how steemit is supposed to benefit them but whatever, writing was sorta on wall. Tron had to realize it was going to be a freak out fest controlling the ninja mined stake. Day 1, instant it was announced they should have had a plan in place with a nice written intent about stake etc, they didn’t. To me that’s amateur hour.

Now if this was some normally mined share that didn’t have a well known history my instinct would be, no don’t fork, they bought it, but since it’s shady mine I don’t have a problem running a soft fork on this. It should have been handled long ago because I don’t see any serious investors investing in some place started and “controlled” in a shady way. High minded ideals often meet the hard clenched fist of reality.....all that can be abused, will be.

I don’t know this company at all and first impression is....Tron was caught off guard by an obvious situation that would arise, which pretty much assures me more clown show coming!

I look forward to the bloviating of plans and marketing and great new things but what I’m really excited about is deep under all these issues is a great concept with some amazing people involved and a heartbeat of active community members.

Love you all and let’s have some fun out there!

Wow... I just wasted hours writing a post... should have cross-posted yours ;D

Gotta go read yours cause curious as to your thoughts, you’re more in tune with this place.

it is far too long for you to read. Don't bother.

This has been an adventure for sure.. I'm looking forward to seeing what new forks come about.. but first, I'd like to see the soft fork turn into a hard fork.. and if anyone doesn't agree, they can go fork themselves the blockchain again

Stick a fork in it, they did. Like academia worried they may lose their grant after the elections.

I think if it had been normally mined nobody would have cared (or well maybe would have cared but not to the extent of doing something like this because then at least it would have been "fair") XD

We always have fun out here right ;D

You'd think a clown show would be more about coding trial and error or launching something with bugs, but it revolves 99.9% around completely preventable communication breakdowns and basic stupidity.... (and that's not directed at the Steem side of the equation ;)

This is an open comment to your open letter about open letters.

I just want to comment that when Steemit inc. was selling Steem they owned, some users were angry "Why does Steemit do this, don't they trust the system?".

My god, I wish they had sold almost all or all their Steem, so we wouldn't be in a situation where owner of Steemit would have such power over the blockchain. But then we wouldn't have the current clown show, which turns the tables once again.

Yea would be nice if it had been taken care of, but it really is a Steemit adventure :)
