Today's post is a short post containing a video recording of 9 hours 30 mins of last Steemgigs discord talk show. I managed to be present on the show last weekend amidst limited energy and the talk went on. It covered the topic; "what is rewarded on steemit?" but we infused "real life", "steemit history" etc into how we tackled this topic, giving us a twist.

Here is an excerpt: (Even Headless "You" Is Bigger Things Than Quality Of Content)
Did you know that on steemit, there are bigger things than "quality of content".
This "sole knowledge" will speed up your steemit journey success-wise.
Say it with me; "there are bigger things that "quality of content".
Hahaha yes, on steemit, "I am not the best writer; you are not best writer and there are many writers.
There are tons of "quality content"; what there aren't tons of; "is you!"
So perhaps, what's rewarded on steemit is "value"; the value "you" create.
Besides "you" though, let's look at some other things that may matter, when it comes to "what makes a steemit post trend" beyond "quality" of content:
- Number 1. Much of the "value" created behind-the-scenes, may be rewarded on-the-scene.
There are many "behind-the-scenes" but only one "on-the-scene". The only on-the-scene is "steemit".
Thus, a giant pay-out on a post may reflect "value", created behind-the-scenes.
e.g a developer may do sleepless nights behind-the-scenes to make steem work and may be rewarded on steemit, in the form of "giant payout" on his simple-looking post
But there is more...
- Number 2. A post may decide to trend because of its pinpoint timeliness.
For instance, a one-liner zap saying "earthquake in 5 mins", may trend over post of "6k words", if "earthquake" did indeed happen. in the next 4 mins and 59 seconds.
And who knows, the picture of a tomato may technically constitute more "valid value" on February 14, than a post containing a "gallery of onions"
- Number 3. Some posts are triggered from behind-the-scenes and have been ordained to go out there and trend, for the positive impact it may have on the community.
- Number 4. Some posts are on trending because they have been determined as of having "greater potential" to attract "a particular audience" during "a particular period".
e.g a meme author may constantly trend during a particular period, to attract "a meme audience" during "a time when meme is the craze".
- Number 5. Some posts written in Chinese and hailing from China for instance, may trend because "internet is censored in China" and these types of posts can aid the "steemit presence" in China
- Number 6. Some "post" may trend because there is "no resource" even on the entire web on the topic that post covered and it has been seen that such post, if found organically in the search engines, will do better in attracting sign-ups, if it earns substantially.
Overall, posts that trend, tend to have large amounts in potential payout as these large amounts also have a role attracting sign-ups from visitors who visit https://steemit.com
Basically, "large potential payouts" seen on posts aren't necessarily an exact reflection of just "its quality".
There may be other things apart from "quality" involved!
What have i been saying?
Much of what is rewarded on steemit is "value", that is why even the simple act of upvoting or "curating" is rewarded as well.
Now, "value" is "bigger things" than just "quality of content".
That your posts doesn't earn well, isn't a reflection of its quality.
Comparisons thus, can help you improve, but don't compare just content.
If you are to compare at all, compare "value" but since you have no real measure of this "value"; keep in mind that there are bigger things than content and value;
"YOU!"

I find it quite shocking just how much tends to get done off the blockchain than on. It does make perfect since. Blogs are just a gateway into the aftermath of an event that created it.
I’ve noticed more times than not being first is sometimes better than being quality and getting it out days later. That pinpoint of time is quite an interesting factor into everything. Something I’ve always lacked quite a bit. I rather take my time and get things up to the start I prefer then trying to beat the crowed to the front gate. Sometimes I find it worthwhile just to hold off if you are going be late might as well be fashionably late when no one is expecting to see it anymore. Then it can stand on its own for the quality it has.

Like you will always say there is no one that does not have something to offer, but it also depends on how you accept what you do. Have learnt to appreciates myself in whatever capacity even if no one is seeing it or appreciating it. No one can say his own writing is better than another, because the other person will also feel the same way. SO WHO IS NOW THE BEST?
The answer to me lies in how you perceive what you do and how you celebrate it even if no one is doing that for you.

Sad to say that I wasn't able to join the steemgigs discord talkshow. I am very busy on my study because I have to focus. Despite of being very busy everyday, I scheduled a time for atleast 30 minutes to steeming. I hope that I could join the talkshow. I missed the voices in discord channel. I missed the voice of @surpassinggoogle .

It's the real truth. There are tonnes of quality content and the question I always ask is, who determines whether a content is quality or not? People judge contents based on their limited exposure on the subject matter still and we just submit to their limitations in knowledge. "You" is only judged by yourself and there can only be an improvement of you when you realize that there is nobody as you. Powerful message by @surpassinggoogle

My point.... We need real witnesses who care more about people like @surpassinggoogle looks out for people, understanding that people are the base points for the eventual steem success. It feels like only very few of the witnesses are in for the people.

I don't know how you came up with this idea but it perfectly match what people don't know about Steemit. I learned early enough that on Steemit it is You that is rewarded and not necessarily the contents.
When you create value consistently, you becomes the value itself. You create what is called a cultlike followership*. Some post are trending because the author has proven himself to the community.
So, I believe people should learn to understand that they carry the value and not the post.
It's good that every talk show has a video/audio recording. I can listen to the conversation and learn from it..

Excellent that we break the subjective rule of quality, each publication is made with the human value that each one of us places on it, the commitment, sincerity and dedication, that has much more value than quality, it was #ulogs in videos gives us the opportunity to show experiences beyond the camera, showing feelings, that's where our true value is.
yes sir, you are right, the value is the most important of all. by having a good value in content you can feel the emotions of it's writing. many are good quality but lesser it's value, it's just like many fishes are in the sea but only few you found it beautiful. they are almost the same because we still have mind to understand it, but those value that strikes in the heart is different. those are works that it's worth to read and it's worth to share with everyone. like for example, "love is different from like", you like it's work but you don't love it. thank you again sir @surpassinggoogle you never stop of giving me or us a new information not to be hasty in doing here in steemit. your kind of works are very inspirational, have a goodhealth and more blessings. thank you more and more.
