My first two weeks ride in this community was fun, Thanks to Steemit.
I have travelled to almost all trending sections,I have given circular post in no specific order(especially in the kr section) and it was beautiful because i wasn't bothered about the earnings, for me it was all about having fun and sharing knowledge.
Now i have decided to make my work more specific to my areas of specialization but here is the challenge.
THE SEVEN DAY EARNING RULE
This rule no doubt has its cons and pros. But i am simply going to state a few reasons why it needs a review.
- IT PROMOTES RECYCLING OF PAST WORK.
Many users are tempted to recycle a few post they already made elsewhere, since the post stops earning after a week they see no reason Investing much time crafting one. I had same thought when i first started, I was tempted to repost some of my videos from my YouTube channel to dtube on steemit. But beside the earning where is the fun, if we can't get new genuine followers in a completely new platform. This may affect the community in years to come if not looked into.
- IT ENCOURAGES LESS QUALITY CONTENT.
It murders creativity to a great degree as Steemians especially the newbie tends to get tired of dropping high quality works that only gets a few views and upvote for the first week(7days) and there after gone. No room for long term earning and no clear knowledge of what happens to further earnings on the post . This tends to discourage the newbies from delivering quality content to focusing on making much followers that will make them earn much for less quality.
- IT MAY PROMOTE A BIAS SYSTEM.
People tend to judge the quality of their work by their earnings. But here it far from it(No doubt there is an exception to this.) and this is because a content that would yield millions of upvote for a "Top Steemian" may provide just a single view for a newbie( except a celebrity with already existing followers outside the community) .
Since the earning period is short, Steemians tend to shift their focus to the whales probably not because of the content they deliver but for the curation benefit attached. If the rule is adjusted newbies may see reward for the time spent in putting of quality content.
Adjustment may be in form of encouragement by allowing a double pay out period for the new Steemians. The quality of our work needs to be restored
