Well, the main reason I'm still using Steemit.com is because that's the site I signed up with. I wouldn't want to enter my private key into a site I'm not familiar with. Could end up being phished. I don't even know which one is the valid link for SteemPeak since it doesn't look like it's mentioned in this article.
There are others as well, and I got lucky with busy.org that I didn't get phished losing my account. There's just too many ways to get screwed (DNS poisoning, etc) if you have sizable holdings on the Steem blockchain, so I err on the side of caution.
Neither busy.org or steempeak.com or any other site that uses SteemConnect has access to your private keys. Nor are they ever sent over the Internet.
