Children are very vital and cherished by any parent and how their children turn out to be in the future is an issue of constant worry and anxiety for parents. No parent would want to fail their child or be responsible for the child's attitude when he/she becomes an adult,that is why most parents try their best to teach their children about life and how to become a quality adult in the future,or see their child impact positively in the society.

The family is a very important factor on how our children become in the future,every nation or country is made up of families which include kids and the quality of these kids will determine the type of society we should expect,either good or bad.

By the end of these series we will must have learned about five important qualities parents should teach their kids so they can become responsible and quality adults.Meanwhile in this episode i will highlight on a very important quality kids should master-Self Control.

Self Control

A simple dictionary meaning of self control is the ability to stop yourself from doing things you want to do but might not always be in your best interest. self control also include the ability for kids to:

• Restrain their impulses.
• Complete unpleasant chores or tasks.
• Delay gratification and
• Putting others before themselves.

Kids who lack self control are prone to many dangers and bad attitudes,some of the dangers include:

• Aggressiveness.
• Fall prey to constant depression and disappointments.
• Make poor choices in life.
• Abuse drugs and lead immoral lifestyle.

According to one study children will greater self control are less likely to have health issues,financial problems and legal issues.

How to teach your child self control

• Be a good Role model for your child.
  Most kids learn and notice every action and choice that their parents take in their presence. You child notice your reaction when you are faced difficult and unpleasant challenges,parents can use these opportunities to teach their child that exercising self control always lead to the best possible result. For instance how do you react when you are provoked by your child,these are are areas parents can demonstrate self control to their child.

• Teach you child that their choices have results both positive/negative.
  It is very important that your child understand that each choice they makes in life will either have good results or bad. And that their choices or decisions taken without self control always lead to unpleasant results,for example if your son often lose his temper with his friends,this may cause his friends to drift away from him,but if he develops self control and apply it he will enjoy a better relationship with his friends and others around him. Self control always lead to good results.

• Learn to say NO to your child
  Learn to say No to your child and mean it,children have a way of testing a parents resolve they can do this by crying when they want something,they can do this even in public,saying no to your child and standing by your decision will help the child to understand that their cant always have what they want. This training will help them in the future to say no to themselves when they are tempted to do things that are wrong like drugs and immoral lifestyles.
