I am pleased to announce that along with some talented Steemians we will shortly begin Steemit Meetups across the major population centers in SE Asia. We encourage you to join us and contribute in any positive ways you would like! π
The purpose of this post is to announce these Steemit meetups but also to give you a flavor of where we intend to go with these gatherings and discuss some basic ground rules! Those of you who know my attitude know I believe in freedom of choice, however when we work in a public realm it is important to ensure that no rules are broken which could adversely effect any Steemians.
Media is a powerful tool treat it wisely! I will be following this post with another discussing what I believe are important points to consider so that our community is based on positivity and does not suffer any form of persecution!
What We Will Be Doing At The Meetups!
This is where things become interesting. Steemit is a social platform and humans in general are social. So lets do some fun social events that bring us Steemians together. The Steemians I am working with are all friends (and new ones to come for sure!) and they represent some considerable talents to ensure that these meetups will be more than just gatherings with a few beers or coffees.
Many of my extended network of friends across SE Asia are professional:
- Event Organizers
- DJs/Producers
- Graphic designers
- Videographers/Photographers
- Club/Venue Owners/Managers
I believe this lineup of talented, intelligent and extremely personal individuals will ensure that our Steemit meetups stay vibrant and exciting! I am confident that they will not become stale. Stay tuned as we announce the locations and lineups as they evolve.
We will shortly be announcing the details for our meetups in:
- Bali
- Bangkok
- Kuala Lumpur
- Cambodia
There are a few other destinations in the work but we will release details on these as they emerge.

Steemit Is An Amazing Social Platform - So Let's Get Social!
The opportunity for Steemians across Asia to gather, share ideas and network will be invaluable for the community. I hope that by having the chance to mix and mingle Steemians will be able to improve the quality of their content and earning potentials. Ultimately I would love to see Steemians from various parts of SE Asia taking the time to attend other meetups in the region.
SE Asia is a fascinating place and having new Steemian friends plus a reason to travel and meet them in person brings us all together. I even have airline contacts which can be used to facilitate this process under the correct circumstances.
What Can @jockey Bring To These Meetups?
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend all the meetups - but will try in the future! π However I fully intend to be online during the meetups to answer questions and assist in any way I can. I will also be able to assist new users who deserve more recognition on the network with some UPvotes from myself and friends of mine.
I also want to encourage some basic directions for the meetups. These include:
- I will never charge any money for my time for assisting new Steemit meetup users! These meetups should not be about charging fees - but I don't judge others who think differently.
- I would love to see Steemians being able to engage in some direct giving to those who have less! SE Asia is full of beautiful people but many are very poor! With Steemit we have the opportunity to make some small changes.
- These meetups will be strictly apolitical! I wish to discourage any discussion of politics for the safety of our members. What you do in your own feed and time is up to you but these meetups will not cover politics.
I will be writing a more detailed post on my philosophy for the meetups shortly. I am sorry if it repeats some of what I have written here but after some thought I believe it is wise to have for future reference a single document that discusses these topics in a succinct manner.
