Small introduction:
I am very proud of this new writing I made, unfortunately I didn't have much time available so I had to divide the story into two parts. The first chapter is an introduction to the events that will happen in the second chapter, so I decided to focus more on the description of the events rather than on action scenes, which instead will be very present in the second chapter. I hope you enjoy.
Alric Stormbringer returned to the dark lake town on a foggy day.
He was coming up the river from the Herm forest, aboard a small barge loaded with fish and wood.
It had been many years since he returned to that place, and he would have gladly done without it if the lives of thousands of innocent people were not in danger.
The alliance of the six kingdoms had been broken and now it was a matter of moments before Crypt Mancer made his move, the king of the dead had shifted his gaze to the lands of the west and ranks of skeletons at his command swarmed along the border waiting for the signal to attack Tyren, the last bastion before the plains of suffering.
"We are coming," said a thin boy with red hair, "the dark lake city is a little further on."
Alric made a sign that he understood, wrapped himself even more tightly in his blue cloak, put the hood on his head and looked ahead.
At first he was disappointed, the fog covered everything and he could no longer see beyond the ship; but the boy was right because soon after he heard the sound of a bell from behind the wall of fog.
The barge advanced slowly through the mist and after crossing the two guard towers it moored at the harbor.
Once on the dock, Alric greeted the boy and headed for the governor's palace.
He took just a few steps when he heard a familiar voice "Well, look who came to visit, Alric Stormbringer the sorcerer of the seas. Welcome to Dark Lake City »
It was Sea Genie, the governor of the city, who spoke.
Alric gave him a big smile, he was happy to see him after all these years.
"I was coming to see you at the palace," he said.
"My old friend, I guess this is unfortunately not a courtesy visit ... many voices have come to my ears and none of them is good," said Sea Genie, sighing.
"I'm afraid this is true, Malric Inferno betrayed the alliance and sided with Crypt Mancer ... the war is coming"
"What do you advise us to do?"
Alric looked around. The fog had just begun to dissipate and a glimpse of fine weather appeared. The harbor was crowded with people and the merchants were loudly inviting passers-by to taste their products.
"Load everything you have on your ships and get out of here, if Tyren is conquered you will have no chance of surviving, there is not much time left now"
"And what will you do my old friend?" Sea Genie asked
"My mission is to warn the people of Tyren, they don't know the danger they're running."
"I understand but I recommend you to be careful during the journey, the forest is no longer a safe place, it has become a refuge for bandits and murderers ... something dark is hidden inside."
"My dear old friend," continued Sea Genie, "I'll give you some soldiers so you can arrive safely at your destination but now I imagine you are tired of the long journey, come with me to the palace, there, you can eat and rest."
Benvenuto a Città lago scuro»
«Stavo giusto venendo a trovarti a palazzo»disse.
«E tu cosa farai mio vecchio amico?» Chiese Sea Genie
