Coming from the !fediverse, I get the whole multiple independent nodes idea, because it works the same way on Diasopra* and Mastodon/GNUSocial/StatusNet. That paradigm might be a harder concept to get for the ex-Facebook brigade though. Twitter users who use TweetDeck would have a better appreciation of it too.
