RE: Steem -- So Much More Than Steemit

in #steempress7 years ago

Great choice of topic @shadowspub

Very on time. It seem that many people associate STEEM directly with Steemit. Which obviously isn't the same.

But at the same time it's hard to separate those two, since both are developed by same people and so strongly connected. Of course it is important to build awareness that (just like you said) STEEM is more than Steemit.

After all STEEM is an "engine" and Steemit is nothing more than a front-end / social media blogging platform. > It’s able to handle over 1million transactions per day while the other two are closer to 500,000 transactions daily

It’s able to handle over 1million transactions per day while the other two are closer to 500,000 transactions daily

I wonder how did they achieve that. How come ETH or BTC cannot compete with STEEM when it comes to transaction speed? I guess to understand it I would need more technical knowledge.

There are other frontends currently available like Steempeak and Busy.

Correct me if Im wrong, but Steempeak use STEEM as a currency and Busy doesn't. Is that right?

Also would you have any idea, if by joining Steempeak I would need to start everything from the scratch? New account, with zero followers, zero voting power, with no STEEM powered up?

ps. I really like how neat your posts are. Very visually easy to read. Would you perhaps also consider justifying them? Some people believe it's not looking profesional but in my opinion it does make it easier to read.

interaction on the Steem platform is far more respectful than found on other social media.

It really is. Just simple example (printscreen) from youtube. Look at my only reply I received to my polite comment:

I seriously cannot stand youtube trolls. It's like youtube is attracting worse kind of humans out there.

Best of luck
Piotr

The platform that Dan Larimer built was the next stage technology .. my understanding is that his EOS tech goes further yet than the Steem blockchain.

Steempeak and Busy are both front-ends using the Steem blockchain. The way content is presented and how you can interact with the blockchain is the only difference between them and Steemit.com

Also would you have any idea, if by joining Steempeak I would need to start everything from the scratch? New account, with zero followers, zero voting power, with no STEEM powered up?

Like most of the D'apps, they have you use Steem Connect to sign in with your Steem account. So, it's one account but able to be used on any D'app accessing the Steem blockchain. Anything you earn on any Steem app goes into your account that you are signed in with.

The strong connection between Steem and Steemit is there because people got used to using the terms interchangeably. If we very deliberately make a point of reminding people that Steemit is part of Steem but it is not Steem, over time that association will start to sever.

Than you for your comments.

Perhaps you're right about EOS. But so far I found EOS very confusing and if someone with average knowledge about blockchain can feel lost then it's not good.

It may be really difficult for EOS to gain mass adoption. So far noone really have been able to explain what will be EOS utility and how will this token/platform works.

EOS so far has great hype and people seem to believe in it because Dan is involved. At that's about it (or at least that my impression).

ps.
Just tried Steempeak - visually very nice, but so much slower than Steemit (probably because Steemit is very simple).

Thank you @shadowspub for this amazing comment :)

I did eventually get an EOS account which I needed to participate on Trybe, but, it was not an easy process. I eventually had to enlist the help of tech support on the site I had finally found that looked like it had a straightforward process. It didn't.

Unlike the Steem ecosystem, other than Trybe, I've seen nothing useful develop on EOS as yet. But, it is their first year.

I hadn't noticed the speed difference between them. As the result of some questions raised by @dreemsteem on a post, I have noticed that the rewards displayed on Steemit is different than on Steempeak with Steempeak displaying an accurate number.
