These days a Bitcoin will buy you a lot of things! I can remember just a short time ago in my life when a bitcoin would barely buy you anything. As a matter fact you had to search the Internet high and low just to find a place that you might be able to spend one. The very first thing I bought with Bitcoin was a chicken sandwich! I very vividly remember it costing .18 BTC. Today I want to give you a show & tell version to help you understand how powerful Bitcoin really is and the story of the.... rise and rise of Bitcoin!
In the beginning, this was about all you could really buy with Bitcoin! As a matter fact, it's what got Ross Albrecht thrown in jail for running the website silk road where Bitcoins were a large part of the economic ecosystem. During the early days of Bitcoins existence, it was being used for a lot of bad things, but today just a short few years later it has become so much more!
I can remember the day when my single Bitcoin would get me one of these. The United States treasury note with the denomination of $10 on the face of it. A piece of paper with ink written on it amd not backed by anything. I remember thinking how cool it was that this Internet funny money has taken off to such heights that you could actually get a $10 bill with one. It was at this point that I thoroughly understood block chain and I knew were Bitcoin was headed and how disruptive it would become to bankers and the dollar along the way.
Then very quickly out of nowhere this day came! The day when investors had to decide whether to put their $30 of cash into a Bitcoin that had only been money for a few short years or put it into this one ounce round of silver which has been money for 6000 years. What an interesting predicament Bitcoin had now put the gold and silver bugs into! Gold bugs realized they couldn't ignore it, but most of them were to scared to take the first step. The ones who did are happy today because their crypto wallet has hedged their silver and gold stack and their metals are hedged with their Crypto wallet . It's a beautiful combination and makes you feel so much better about holding each individual asset by itself.
When this day came I thought to myself....WOW! Bitcoin has really grown some deep roots! I was absolutely amazed that I was now able to not only buy 1 ounce of silver, but a whole roll of mint state United States silver Eagles! I felt like I was stealing. It shouldn't be this easy to be able to purchase expensive precious metals that takes so much effort to get out of the ground. I now believed in Bitcoin more than ever.........but still people laughed at me and blew me off when I offered to teach them what I discovered.
What?! Are you freakin kidding me???? Hold up......you mean to tell me that 1 Bitcoin will now buy me TWO one hundred ounce Silver bars AND a fist full of cash? Good Lord Bitcoin is powerful! You now can buy so many things with Bitcoin......shoot if you look hard enough you can mostly buy anything you can think of. Bitcoin has come a long way and still has a long way to go....but just remember that there is one thing you can't buy with Bitcoin......you got to earn these suckers!
The hesitation to BUY BITCOIN will only cause you to watch the price double again and again....and again.....the moral of the story is to simply buy, hold and protect Bitcoin. It's buying power is so massively strong, you can't even afford to loose .001 of a BTC.

Whatever you says here is absolutely true. Buying power of BTC is growing massively. I never seen such kind of high buying power material or an item so far. This is remarkable.

I recently wrote a post about this, and basically I wrote that bitcoin still doesn't meet all the requirements to be considered a currency, but it's on the right way.
Currently, bitcoin works very well as a value reserve, but it still has a long way to become a universally accepted medium of exchange and ultimately function as an accepted unit of measure

The only reason I have been so hesitant now is back in 2010 I had a computer mining using only the computers processor for bitcoin - it was mining for about two weeks. I sold that computer on craigslist before I moved to Barcelona. I kick myself to this day for that mistake and I don't even know how many bitcoin was mined in that approximate 2 weeks but i have a feeling it will hurt even more if I find out. For this physiological loss its the reason that keeps me from buying today.
Man that sucks! I mean we all have stories like that. I lost coins in Mt Gox, Cryptsy and Poloniex. Thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars worth. I also lost 9btc on Bitmit. Fact it with all these losses I'm still ahead. I hope your stubbornness does not really haunt you when BTC is 500k. Think about it.......
Ohh the Mt. Goxer's, I really for feel for you guys. Luckily because btc acts like a gateway to buy into so many other coins I am pretty sure I have some small fractions laying around in these various exchanges, and maybe because of your and some many others encouragements lately I may move that decimal point up a few notches.
The biggest eshop in Czech republic accept Bitcoin, Austria post services exchange bitcoin. News of last month in Central Europe. :)

once i work with the free sites like freebitcoin etc. i just wondering how these little sathoshi work for me. in the past year one sathosi is equals to very little amount in USD. hard to calculate it even. but some how i work with these free sites without any stress as it is a free money . and i am doing it like a hobby, but as you said in this post now bitcoin prove how powerfull than USD and even a little sathoshi can be calculate right now. and it proves me again and again i did not wasted my time with tiny sathoshi collections hobbies. The only chance i left in here is i forget to buy some bitcoins in the past. but it was the past. now everyday and every month somehow i brought some little bit amount of bitcoins. yee, damn You are correct my friend, now it is worth more than double even triple the value. I got some moral and inspiration by your post. I appreciate lot for that. now i am working without hesitations with bitcoins as i buy , hold, protect and grow them. Today was the first day I let a customer know that I'd accept payment in Bitcoin. Of course, he paid with a credit card. But it was a step. The next step is to put up a sign, and then to mention it in my email newsletter.

Should have done it years ago, but I didn't understand it. I thought that I needed to find a way to get Bitcoin out into dollars. I should have just taken payments with it when I could and held onto it (or used some of it to buy things).
Now I know.

Bitcoin and crypto have huge value. We can see the dollar is being slaughtered and the global economy is in shambles and already we have world leaders like Putin who are leading mass mining operations.
They mocked bitcoin and its community and said, how does bitcoin have a future if the community can't decide what fork they want even though despite the FUD we had such a smooth transition.
It seems like many people will cling to a system we have used for many years rather than changing to something new, faster and efficient as well. I'd rather have my money in a wallet rather than a bank as well as most of us use digital transactions every single day.

I started with bitcoin in late 2016 while the price was quite affordable but i did not had the guts to just dive all in if i had done that I would have been rich.
Instead I saw it rising up and up daily.

Lol.....I bought my fist ounce of gold with BTC too.......it cost me 56 BTC for one ounce. BTC was around 30 at the time. Ouch!

Great story broncnutz! I originally thought the doob was just a generic stand-in for "drugs" re: silk road, but then your story really started! I too remember when it hit $10 and i thought "crap! I probably missed it..." when it went through silver i spazzed a little bit. When it would buy 2oz's of silver i went in hard and bought some coins. I love the fact that it'll buy 200 oz's now and give you some change -- holy moly!
Also, buy & hold has proven itself to be THE ultimate bitcoin strategy, and will probably continue to be so. However, i have bought and sold and traded the shit out of btc for good profit and an immense amount of excitement.

i accept it that is a time when i hear about btc and i dont believe it and i think some of peoole only waste money but after some time when i see it get some papularity i think some small invest in it but i fear maybe it destroy and i loss my mony and after some time when i search on it i believe it and now i m happly i buy some btc that give me a big proift and then i again buy and now i have some more and i happy and hope it go more and its really future

I agree 100% with you on this. As billions try to buy into BTC down the road and can only acquire fractions of it at a higher cost of a whole coin today the price and value will be to the moon as they say. With this being said, no I don't believe it's money. It's a currency. Only the metals are money in my opinion. True money that is. But this crypto thing sure is a hell of a lot of fun and much more so than paper.......... ;)

Even now, I still have trouble wrapping my head around Bitcoin as money....but I'm rapidly being won over. While I do not have the guts to convert even part of my stack into crypto (I still believe gold and silver are long overdue for a moonshot), I have been moving investment capital out of stocks and into crypto (mainly Bitcoin).

ye i hesitated in 2012 then it was around 10$ i thought to spent 1000$ and now time changed i cant even buy some bitcoins. So now im more into altcoins research to buy while they are ico.

I actually think your right. I think silver has an easier path to 50 than BTC has to 13,000 right now.
yes there are cycles to everything. conditions are likely to be much more favourable to silver over the coming weeks and months...in fact it could be perfect. for btc the coming weeks will likely be tough, especially if the stock market crashes. but i am standing ready to get some btc when that price drops, because at some point it is gonna go high.

I came across your post and it was 12 days old when I commented earlier and then it showed up in my pending payouts as a payout.
Question - does this apply to alll posts even 6 months ago? If the comment gets upvoted? And is the payout 7 days from the date of the users comment?
After all I've read about commenting, curation and posting and rewards I never once saw anything about earning still on older posts - Interesting

That is good to know! I'm not an expert here for sure......I do have a few things figured out but still learning a lot.
I can most certainly see that you've got a lot figured out cuz! To be honest with you - I think the only STEEMIT experts are @ned and his tight tight circle and a few whales if that - even many of the STEEMIT developers are having plenty of "aha" moments and reworking their apps, and finding new tricks into this mastermind maze of inner workings designed by literal GENIUS "Ned" - How he even thought up this entire ecosystem and then coded it, made it a live platform, and let it just naturally grow with very very little marketing involved at all -
Obviously money is a major motivator in most of society - and once a few people joined in the early days - it slowly spread by word of mouth - and now its users take care of 99.5% of the marketing for STEEM. Developers & Witnesses keep it fresh, reworking the design, systems, and maintaining its integrity..
It's truly a special place and as much as I promote it to friends and family and on social media - the innate greed in me also wants to keep it a secret at times as the bigger it grows the less the earnings will become (unless the HOLD investors exceed the user growth rate)
I'm only like 8-9 weeks in I think and just as I start to think that I've figured out some parts of it - I am humbled back to scratching my head asking questions and searching for answers.
What I love most is the way that complete strangers from all over the world on here are some of the nicest most helpful, selfless people you encounter -
I think that aspect is almost embedded into the code somewhere - (the old-time users helping the 1st day users comes right back around to them in a form of STEEM karma) - if that makes sense
My account is worth less than $200 but I've helped out plenty of deserving people by giving them $ in the form of SBD or promoting their posts using my SBD wallet and didn't even realize that it's the same as handing a $1 or $5 bill to complete stranger on the street because I felt they needed it - even though I probably needed it more than them
I don't know if any of this will make sense to you but thats my thought process on STEEMIT (learning, evolving, and the magic of it all)
I'm really surprised that there aren't more platforms that mimic STEEMIT and allow people to earn money/coins as easily as people can on here -
No kiddin' - I personally still just cannot believe the amount of well-educated, wealthy (not rich but easily have money invested elsewhere or can afford to gamble at a casino) people in my life that I've tried to recruit into the crypto community to make a small investment at least. I've been with Bitcoin since mid-2015 but didn't really try to educate family and friends until late 2016 when BTC was $700, ETH $8 and Litecoin less than ETH i believe - then every 3 months I'd show them the prices and missed gains and they still think it's "not real" or a scam.. Ummm when Apple, Mark Cuban, Plenty of Fortune 500 Companies have invested Millions and Millions into it - it's clearly not a scam.
I think that many people simply think it's now "too late" and they missed the boat and just can't comprehend that BTC will likely reach $10k, $50k, and who knows maybe even $1M a coin as the world gets more and more everyday investors.
It's easy for people like us who are educated in Bitcoin and understand "Blockchain Technology" and how it can and is already being applied to every facet of our lives - and have experienced the 500-3000% returns and lived thru the craziness of Altcoin Bursts!
I don't know Brother - All I can say is - I sure am glad Bitcoin found me when it did and even though I don't have a large bank account or savings - even $100 or $500 easily turns into $1000-$2500 in 3 months all too often - I try to purchase more BTC with every penny that I can and still be able to pay my bills and provide for my family

I am not really surprised that people were doubting bitcoin in the beginning and even now, majority think it is a big scam. All that is happening because of the human nature - people follow trends, but they don't like to risk. People hate to spend their time on learning something new or making a deep research. It is always easier to wait till everyone around confirms that it is safe.
I really regret I did not make research about bitcoin in the beginning and had the same human doubts.

I think bitcoin is the myspace to facebook. If you think the governments and banks will sit back and watch, think again. You dont think the banks can print off enough money to buy all the bitcoin. Its only 50-60 billion.

Money? i can use my weed stash as i better exchange for items. Bitcoin is a fade, its the myspace to facebook. I lost my whole wallet when mtGox went busto and things like that will happen again for sure. It is a good investment if you are very careful, but its very far from money.
