Throughout history and in different cultures, this value has been associated with bad luck or with sacred issues. It is not easy to give a clear and unique answer to what the number 13 means, but we can say that it is a question that is fully in the collective unconscious of the human being, because the superstition around the number thirteen, in particular, and towards the meaning of numbers, in general, we find many cultures.
For example, for the Maya, it was a figure considered sacred because it represented the thirteen lunar phases. In contrast, many Western countries consider thirteen attracts bad energies. Likewise, in Judaism, this number is also considered a bad omen because thirteen were the spirits related to evil. It is said that superstition arises from the fact that, during the Last Supper, thirteen individuals sat down at the table and one of them died.

In Formula 1 the thirteen is not used (as in the airplanes). The same with some football teams. There are also streets that omit portal 13 and hotels that avoid using the 13th floor so as not to inconvenience their eventual guests.
It is worth noting that in Latin America and Spain, on Tuesday the 13th it is considered a bad omen, as it happens in the Anglo-Saxon nations on Friday the 13th.

In the tarot, the number 13 is interpreted as death and in its hidden sense, it represents change (the death of something and the birth of something else).
The previous examples, collected through the history, of their civilizations and cultures, make us think that the number 13 is more complex than we think and that it is not a simple superstition.
On the contrary, it seems something rooted in the depths of the human being and it will be difficult for us to shake out all this turbulent atmosphere around the number.
So much so that there is a disease to number thirteen called triskaidekaphobia. Hitler was obsessed with avoiding the thirteenth number at all costs, so he possibly suffered triskaidekaphobia.
