Will we see human trials begin for Neuralink in 2023?

in #stemlast year

Musk has recently signaled that we are getting close, perhaps only months away, from human trials with Neuralink and Musk apparently is open to getting one himself.

What sort of implications might we see from this scientific advancement?

What will the long-term effects be? How long are they going to test via human trials before it opens up to the general market and more people opt to start putting these chips in their brains?

Right now they've got ongoing discussions with the US FDA on that front.

Not many people might be optimistic for now on brain implants and the direction things are going.

It might take years and a lot of marketing and education before more people are open to using them around the world.

The goal? to try and develop high-bandwidth brain implants that can communicate with phones and computers.

The company has also faced some criticism along the way for its treatment of animals like monkeys that have allegedly been used as they work on the brain implants they've been trying to perfect. To date the company has also been successful in raising hundreds of millions to work on this endeavor.

He should be the first. Or at least amongst the firsts.

Of course, a lot of religious people will say it's the end of the world or the advent of Anti-Christ

And this is somewhat understandable. The Neuralink can certainly go wrong in many ways. Just imagine that people getting "hacked". Either by the government or by someone else. Their thoughts, their decisions, their actions can be viewed, affected, or even controlled. Their whole life. This is probably scary even for the not religious people.

I understand.. these things if they get into the wrong hands could literally be dangerous

i think there are lots of ethical problems in there?
