So i'm entering the metaverse.

Ever since watching the movie Lawnmower man, I have been fascinated with the concept of VR. I remember back in the late 80's, early 90's it was trying to make a come back, but the vr headsets were huge and clunky, no one could envisage using it in the home because it would cost too much money.

Then there were other movies as the years went by such as Arcade, Virtuosity, Johnny Mneumonic right up to the most recent one Ready Player One. Looking back on some of these movies as much I was amazed by them, what they offered seemed limited, and the graphics poor apart from Ready Player One, I mean god you get to go in the hotel from The Shining. I would have included eXistenZ & The Matrix, but that takes it to a whole new level, and I am not going to see this in my lifetime, or perhaps I will be too old to experience.

But even after Ready Player one and doing some googling the concept still seemed too early, VR was making more of a presence, with the Oculus Rift, and HTV Vive, but it was not really being taken up. The fact of having not to just own the hardware but having a decent enough computer seemed more daunting and expensive.

When suddenly, well not suddenly but it seems like it currently VR is becoming more and more widely available, offering portable headsets which are wireless, allowing fully immersive experiences such as the Oculus Quest 2, which is what I am intending to buy.

Its funny when you talk about coincidences I have been looking into buying one of these puppies for the last week, since I got my bonus from work. When I come back onto hive start blogging and curating and come across this awesome post from @dreemsteem, who was talking about one of the games I wanted to try called Supernatural VR. Which is kind of a game but its also about keep fit, I have been doing keto since the beginning of the year, I am too shy for the Gym and exercise just does not get me roused, so I needed to find an alternative which looks like this.

I spoke to @dreemsteem today about it and she is absolutely loving the experience, and who can blame her when its fully immersive and gets you to use your whole body to work out. But it's not the only reason of course why I want to get this, I want the whole experience of seeing a new world possibly to help build it. I have been doing my homework however and it seems to two things that I was the most excited about I cannot get yet, which is horizon worlds and supernatural VR.
Horizon worlds is a metaverse where you can meet people virtually, play games and hang out with them, supernatural is a keep fit programme, which is a subscription service but has very good reviews.

When I found out I could not get these things, it did get me wondering if now was the right time to buy, what if I bought the headset and then when they are released there will be an Oculus Quest 3 and then mine is out of date. However experts are saying there is no sign of the 3 version being out any time soon, so it gives me hope these will arrive in Europe before the new hardware does. And what sealed the deal is my boss at work who happens to be a friend of mine, got chatting to me the other day and turns out she is buying one at the end of the month, and after much begging and pleading has won me over.

So while there is no supernatural there is sabre beat, while there is now horizons world, there is horizons works, and VR chat, so i'm not exactly stuck, but meta in the slim chance you do managed to read this, do get a wiggle on and expand to europe, pretty sure we didn't have to wait for Facebook as long as we are waiting for this.
