Welcome to the Steemit Story Chain
Good afternoon Steemers I hope your day is going well. It's time for another Steemit Story Chain where I invite you to start writing and developing your own story using the comment box. For the Steemer that writes the most original and engaging part of the story there are 100 Whaleshares to be won.
I would like to thank all those that took part in last week's story chain, particularly @dreamingirwin, @karencarrens and @thot2word, you all demonstrated some very interesting and adept writing skills. The decision was pretty tough I have to say as all of you wrote superbly with a unique style. However, I have now determined a winner.
@thot2word
You took a more conventional story and turned into something quite bizarre and unexpected. You created a very original narrative structure and delivered the piece in a solid manner. Where your writing let you down you made up for it with your creative uniqueness.
You have won 100 Whaleshares. Please reply with your Bitshares account information and I will send the Whaleshares to your account immediately. Enjoy! If you don't have an account don't worry it's very simple and completely free to set one up here - https://bitshares.openledger.info/?r=akrid-1.
A reminder of the winning part is detailed below:
Part 2
For a second I froze.
Suddenly all my senses jumped into over drive and I swear I could have won an Oscar in driving. I literally hightailed it out of that neighborhood. After driving for 30 minutes I assume, I finally picked up the courage to ask "where to". I received no answer so I followed my instincts and drove towards a park in a safer neighbourhood. I parked the car and asked if it was okay to step out because I obviously didn't want to be shot. To my greatest surprise, I heard sobbing in the backseat.
I unhooked my seat belt and stepped cautiously out of the car with my hands in the air but when I turned around, no gun was pointing at me. I don't know how else to explain what I saw but I was shocked to my bone marrow. There was absolutely no one in the back seat. And to top it all, the doors were still closed. Oh my goodness. I basically deflated. I just sat on the side walk and tried to get myself together. What had just happened??
I remembered after a while that I had been on the phone with my brother. So I called him back to tell him what had just happened. I needed someone to convince me that I wasn't crazy. While the phone was ringing, I got back in my car after checking every single nook and cranny of the car. Of course I didn't find anyone. All I found was a tube of lipstick and a......
Moving onto this week's new story again I want you guys to start the story chain and complete it so you own the entire story from start to finish. If you would like to enter the contest please make sure you upvote and resteem this post. Then simply use the comment box to start and develop the story. Only one entry per person. Remember you should not write more than a short paragraph or two. Don't forget to number which part of the story you are writing. Be as creative and original as you can, using any genre or style you wish. And have fun!
This contest is sponsored by Whaleshares and I owe a big thank you to @akrid and @officialfuzzy. There are 100 Whaleshares for the winning entry. If you would like to learn more about Whaleshares and how they can increase your post rewards please visit https://steemit.com/whaleshares/@eirik/guide-on-how-to-use-whaleshares-updated-version where @eirik will gladly explain more to you.
What I am looking for in order to determine the winning entry is as follows:
- A strong sense of imagination
- Creative intelligence
- Originality
- Narrative fluidity (ensuring the story chain links smoothly)
- Use of language, grammar and syntax (we need to understand what you're saying!)
The winner will be announced in a week's time. A new post will be published then announcing the winner along with a new story chain.
Part One of Your Story
Please begin writing the story.
Here's my entry @freedomexists
Linda, a cute little damsel who's loved by friends and especially her parents. The fantasy of love was the sweetest quote of every bit of seconds which stood has a recurring and resounding alarm which was kept on snooze.
Fred, a guy who she termed as "incomparable" was her constant childhood friend right from her school days. The love grew more stronger from just school mate to lovers up to the extent that Linda could not stop thinking about the endless love she got from her one and only love.
Now, through with the university level, Linda and Fred had to serve their country in order to show forth what they've really learnt while in school, Linda chose to serve in the country but Fred joined the United nations to Afghanistan for peace keeping.
Now she regretted not following Fred to Afghanistan, she kept on remembering the love play and now had to part ways, now starting a new life.
The new life brought in another moment of joy, while serving the country wholeheartedly she met a new friend who was young, good looking and also caring. Now her love became strong for him and kept thinking at the new spark of romance that became her lot, forgetting her primary reason now at work. She could no longer hide her feelings, seeing no fault in him she had to make it known to all her closest friend. Her status became complicated in the middle of her pleasure.
A certain day came when Linda and her new lover went to buy something in the supermarket. On the verge of paying for what was bought, she had a tap from her back, on turning, she saw Fred kneeling down with a ring saying those sweet words
she went to her greatest shock which moved her soul out of her body and made her start crying profusely.
Now Collins was really surprised and asked her who the guy kneeling down was. The three confused set of beings parted ways and that became their greatest twisted fantasy.
Part two (2)
I was writing and sneaking peeks at Mr. Sylvester, the invigilator, intermittently. Still curbed in ginormous amount of fear and hoping not to get caught by him as I was using a cheat note.
I knew that my Student’s life would be ruined if I get caught: I would be rusticated and imprisoned for three years as it’s expressly stated in the constitution. I didn’t want all that but couldn’t help cheating as plethora of inscrutable topics deluged the course plus the lecturer’s inability to cover it which made the course uncomprehending to me.
As Mr. Sylvester came closer with his eyes focused on me, I got caught up in my hysteria as the usual fear that followed Mr. Sylvester’s aura pervaded me. I was indeed in tremendous fear for my future. “did he see me cheating?, did i piqued his interest?, what should I do?” were just few of the avalanche of questions that barraged my head. I tried composing myself but couldn’t as he was giving me a stern look while coming to my desk. He came to my desk, thrusted his right arm around my shoulder and bent his waist till his head was just close to mine. I knew I was doomed seeing him flipping the pages of my answer booklet and taking out the cheat note in the middle. I was placid, regretting my actions as Mr. Sylvester asked “were you cheating?”…
I loved your post friend continues like this
This is an awesome idea!
I don't have time right now but this is something I definitely think I'll be participating in here in the near future! Cant wait to see what other people come up with!
What was your inspiration for this and how has it made your experience on steemit better so far? Can't wait to her!
In any case, you've earned my upvote and I resteemed for the reminder/exposure! Would love for you to stop by my latest post if you feel so inclined. Can't wait to hear what you think if you choose to do so! : )
i agree with that
Window Into Your Facebook
"If only looking out the window weren't such a common feature in novels."
I didn't state it. I thought it... looking out my bedroom window.
"It's such a symbolic act. 'Window to your soul.' Except that you never look inside when you're looking outside. Wait... you do. Isn't-"
PING! Distracted from my either inward or outward thinking - "who knows anymore?" I checked my facebook to see the new notification.
It was about mice, and how being exposed to silence made their brains.... grow.
Hm... "I suppose looking out the window is one of those ways... although facebook certainly isn't. Or is it? I wish steemit was more like facebook. By that I mean... functional. Ah well."
@moneyinfant has added your contest to the list Steemit Writing Contests: Issue #19. The list is updated on a daily basis and your contest will remain on the list until its expiration - there's nothing you need to do.
The list was created to save writers the excessive amount of time spent searching through the #contest tag for writing contests. Now they can just come to the list each day, see new contests and use their time doing what they love - writing.
If you'd like to help spread the word about the Steemit Writing Contest List I'd really appreciate a resteem, but it certainly isn't necessary. The project is simply meant to help writers save time and contest creators attract more contestants.
P.S. If you know of any contests I've missed I'd love to hear about them. Thanks!
This is super fun, i remember doing this with my then gf but seems no one wants to go first

Hi, here is my entry.
PART ONE
Catherine stood by the window thinking about the words her mother-in-law had said earlier on, this issue of not having a male child is really getting to her and this was her last hope.
The doctor had said she shouldn't try to get pregnant again after she is delivered of the baby in her presently. After giving birth to her four lovely girls through caesarian section on four different occasion, the doctor had she didn't have much opportunity left.
The pressure from her in-laws and the society on having a male child is just too much to bear and had really been weighing her down, she thought.
Catherine discovered she was pregnant eight months ago, she refused to perform a scan to determine the sex of the baby because she wasn't sure what would happen if the result came out negative again. She prayed to God once more for a male child so as to be relieved from societal pressure and stigma.
Catherine was brought back to reality when she felt a fluid-like substance rolling down her leg, this was followed by a sharp pain. No, this can't be happening she shouted, I am only 8 months gone.
Catherine opened her eyes to find herself on the hospital bed, a nurse was standing beside her checking her vitals.
You are finally awake, how are you feeling ma'am? The nurse asked
What happened to me? Catherine said
Well, you were rushed to the hospital by your husband and we had to carry out an operation on you so as to save you and your baby. The nurse said
On hearing the word baby, Catherine's heart skipped a beat.
Congratulations madam, you have been delivered of a baby....... The nurse said.
Hello sexy @freedomexists (voice), thank you for representing #whaleshares and giving us the opportunity to write and have fun!
Here is my Official Entry to the 'Your Story - #22 Contest:'"
Part One.
Her name was Emine, and her mother told her it meant fearless or courageous, but her family called her "Em" for short. She was three years old but aware enough to understand that her mother dropped her off at the mean old lady's house every day. The old lady was darker in complexion, had two missing front teeth, and wore glasses so thick Em could hardly see her eyes. Her parents said the old lady was her grandmother. Em didn't like her grandmother, since she would force her to sit in a hard leather chair all day and never feed her.
The old lady would come by with a Hostess lemon fruit pie and slowly eat in front of her and drink a tall glass of cold milk. Em tasted the sweetness of the pie and feel the cold liquid as it ran down her throat, but all she could do was stare in hunger. When Em would try to sleep, that old lady would come around in her wheelchair, turn off all the lights, and turn on a flashlight. Grandma would shine the flashlight where the dolls were hauntingly placed ... and came alive ...
