After months of pulling, the world into an utter state of fear Eli final felt strong enough to track Elijah down. He had no idea where to start he knew that the government had shut the labs down and most of the scientist and doctors were arrested, but where they were kept was top secret and only a hand full of people really knew were that was. He had to start at the very top.
It was the middle of the night and the streets were virtually empty. His resent victims had not been much help but he could still pull some information out of them before leaving their bodies in pieces. He found out that the Lotic hotels that had come out of nowhere a few years back, was a front for an undercover special team. The team did not seem to belong to any government in particular and there were no traces of their existence anywhere. He was going in blind, not that he could not defend himself.
Before long he stood in front of a large building and even though it was late, the place was still alive with people everywhere. A door attendant kept the door open that led onto the casino floor. With his hands in his pockets, he casually walked through and even nodded his head in thanks to the attendant. His first stop was at the receptionist deck where an attractive young woman’s face was lit up by a computer screen. The entire place was filled with security and with a quick count; he could spot around 20 on this floor alone including the two behind the reception desk.
“Evening sir, how can I help you this evening?” She asked with a smile on her face.
Eli’s glance stayed on the two guards as he spoke. “Did you see the zebra outside. It’s a long way from home don’t you think” He did not know much about them but he did know a few of their codes.
The larger of the two guards quickly stood straight and almost gave him a death stare. It did not take him long to make his way around the desk to stand in front of Eli.
“Right this way sir.” He replied almost aggravated, before turning around to walk.
Eli calmly followed as the second guard fell in behind them.
They made their way through the crowd, and past all the slot machines and poker tables, to gold coloured double doors with large lotic flowers carved into them. Two guards that pushed them open as the three of them arrived guarded the doors. They entered into ha hallway that was empty apart for the three of them.
“Who are you?” the large guard finally asked. “You look a little young to be a lotic.” He continued.
“If you don’t believe I am one, then why let me in?” Eli replied.
“We knew someone was looking for us. We just didn’t think it would be a kid.”
Rage ran down Eli’s spine at the mention of the word kid, but he quickly regained his temper.
“We’ve lost a lot of good men, and we’re hoping a meeting could stop this senseless massacre. But since the real killers didn’t want to face us I supposes we’ll need a new plan.”
The statement intrigued Eli. The fact that they did not think that he would be capable of all the murders almost amused him more than it annoyed him. “What do you mean?” Eli asked almost sarcastically.
“I suppose the fact that they would send a kid should answer that question don’t you think?”
“Of course.” He replied bluntly.
They had finally reached the end of the hallway and entered through yet another door that led into an office. A young man sat behind a large desk with a pipe between his lips. He blew out a puff of smoke before he spoke.
“Who might this be?” He asked the guards.
Eli did not wait for them to reply. “Eli. Or I suppose you all know me as the smiley face killer.”
The room suddenly echoed in laughter. “Very funny kid.” The man behind the desk said before taking another puff. “I don’t doubt the killer sent you. Although I don’t get why.”
“You know I really hate being called kid.” Eli now replied through grated teeth.
“Oh I’m sorry do you prefer Mr. Smiley.” The man behind the desk laughed.
Eli used most of his concentrate to keep his human form as he began to talk. “Are you married?” He asked calmly, but did not wait for a reply. “I want to say no. I mean I’m no expert of course, but from my experience married people tend to always keep a photo or some odd trinket that never fits in with its surroundings in the office” he paused. His eyes locked with the man’s “Then again it could just be a matter of safety. I mean you don’t want someone to have something to hold against you. You also look to young to have a family.” He examined his face as he spoke. “Ah so you are married. I wanna say newlywed. There’s no tan line on your finger so it was pretty recent witch probably means no kids.” The man’s face changed yet again, “Kid’s before marriage? Tisk Tisk how dare you. Don’t you think if I found you I could find them?”
“Your bluffing.” The man said after clearing his throat.
“I could be. And even if I wasn’t you could always inject me with the syringe your friend is hiding behind his back.” He glanced at the smaller guard who stood in the corner of the room. I would just wake up in my room tomorrow morning and think that all of this was just a dream.” He smiled. “I wouldn’t bother though, after enough times you become immune to them. Then again you don’t need to believe me.”
“Look kid stop playing games.” The man behind the desk spoke.
“I told you I am not a KID!” Eli screamed. “I have not been a kid for a very long time. My childhood was stolen from me. My sanity was stolen from me. Now look I am trying VERY hard not to kill any of you, since it was your people saved my life, but if you don’t cooperate someone will die. Tell me where you are keeping Doctor Elijah. In addition, I’ll spare you. Don’t and die. Easy.”
“Look k- look we don’t know I swear.”
“Then tell me who does.”
His control began to slip and his eyes began to turn black, and vanes began to darken like tears streaming down his face.
“P- Pieter Marks. He was in charge of the lab rescue.”
“You gonna tell me where he is?”
“I don’t know I swear his location is always kept secret no one knows where he is.”
“Well I found you I suppose I can find him.” He replied frustrated. Before turning to walk for the door. He felt a sudden pinch in his neck and quickly turned to find the needle in his neck and the small guard behind him.
“Bad move.” He whispered before jabbing his tail through the man’s heart.
With lighting speed, he moved to the second guard and in a split second, his head fell to the ground. He tilted his head and looked over to the now pale white man.
“Please we had a deal.” The man pleaded.
“We did. They didn’t seem to agree.” Without saying anything else, he turned and walked for the door. He could hear the snickering of a grown man as the doors closed behind him.
