“I used to enter office with muddy shoes whenever it was a rainy season. I did not mind cleaning up the mud after all we had cleaners to do the cleaning. I did not know that my manager was not comfortable about it.” Says Jackie Namukisa, a business woman in Kampala.
She says that she was embarrassed one day when her boss made her to clean up her own mud in the office. One that day, she learnt to take extra cautions whenever it was a rainy season.
‘’The rainy season comes with it an increase in wet footprints, mess collecting in your entry ways carpets, keeping your office clean during the rainy season takes a little extra effort. ‘’ says Mukisa Rita, proprietor of Mukisa studios and boutique in bushenyi.
She adds that keeping entry ways slip free is very important during the rainy season.
‘’ keep heavy duty entry way rugs and mats to capture most of the inevitable water that get tracked in your office. Natural fibre doormats will invite people to dry their shoes before entering the office.”
Mukisa says that employers and employees should always disinfect shared spaces in the office. Always wipe down door handles, tables and chairs to keep bacteria away especially during the rainy season. This will keep you and your employees healthy at the work place amidst the rainy season.
Sanyu Kirabo, Manager Shalom restaurant and guest house in Iganga says that employees should sweep and mop their floors more frequently during the rainy season. Regular dusting and mopping will keep your office clean and convenient to stay in the rainy season.
She also says that since windows get grimy in the rainy season, the need extra attention to remove water pots caused by rainy. This will allow beneficial sunlight into your office. Employers or employees should always shine up those windows in the wet season.
‘’ Dis infecting wipes are very important for keeping your office clean and fresh as you can encourage your staff members to wipe down their desks. This will help to prevent the spread of illness.’’ She adds.
She says that in order to avoid infections, The toilets or wash rooms should always be kept clean since it is natural to visit them more in the rainy season.
