Money Is Meant To Move and Dance

in #teamaustralia7 years ago (edited)

I think I spend a great deal of time being in perpetual amazement at living in this time.

There is so much vision and breadth and poetry and besuty and there is so much of its opposite, and even though there's much, much more of the former, we are strangling ourselves with the latter so we are oxygen deprived and begin believing there isn't any of it at all.

We are pixellating ourselves into oblivion.

What is the opposite of poetry? At this point in time I'd say it's bureaucracy.

We are amazing. We see so much all at a glance. And that immediate seeing is the space from where the poetry comes. But we now see so little of the part of us that sees so much. This has been going on for several hundreds of years, this living with the results of insisting there is only one way of seeing when there is really two. Our split brain says so.

Some of us don't even know we have a wide open river that rushes through our own bodies.

I feel mournful today. I need help from my society and it is very hard to ask for and very hard to know if I am going to get any "return on my energy investment" It will take a lot of energy and a little bit of money which is a lot for me. It will take interfacing with bureaucracy, and that bureaucracy has a customer-facing face just like you or me. It will be a sad face, of course, because nobody likes working at Centrelink.

At Centrelink you are most certainly a cog in a wheel, and that wheel is regularly pissed on by a giant black dog that is the Australian Government. The government will speak at times, in tightly scripted PR speak, about being an innovation nation. It will speak all the time about the economy.

The Australian Government has a AAA credit rating, which I think translates out into it being a really easy place for rich businesspeople to make more returns on their investment.

I hate money and wish it didn't exist. Or at least not in its current form where it is something for greedy rich people who feel unsafe to hoard. I wish instead that it existed in a form where it behaved like it used to, in civilisations different to ours, where it was an energy that danced and linked people together and to hoard it was to demonstrate your degeneracy.

Some days it is enough to know that sane societies existed, and will exist again. But in the meantime we have to live in this one, which is crunching people in its jaws and spitting them into the gutter.

I wish for the sanity to come sooner than anticipated today. I wish to see us all walking around in the wide expanse of beauty, in that more beautiful world our hearts know is possible, as Charles Eisenstein puts it. Our hearts and our brains both.

Come to mama, universal basic income. You would change my life.

The world of money, finances, and economics are super messed up. it has a lot to do with how money is created (mostly by private banks) and how that impacts us in a hugely negative way. there is an excellent doco call 97% owned that everyone NEEDS to watch. It is the cause and solution to almost all of the global issues (Poverty, enviroment, work)

Also the basic income thing is super important because we are heading to an impossible future atm. we are simply becoming so efficient that there just isnt going to be 38 hours of work for people to do each week. which would be great if those efficiency gain were passed on to us via high wages or a basic income. they are not, wages have been relatively flat for a long time while productivity continues to grow. we litterly have the tech and the resources to mean no one globaly would be required to do much work and our quality of life would remain the same of improve.

i look around and see half the jobs are pointless. just layers of management and simply processing. we spend millions on employing people to monitor the recipient of centrelink assistance, seem cheaper to hand out that assistant more freely. sure more people will claim money but less than what we pay the centrelink employees.

basic income also does another really interesting thing. it helps to shift value to jobs that actually contribute to society. for example a basic income help people to take strike style action more easily. they can live on the basic income while they are on strike. strikes allow people in jobs to demand more and if that job is some thing we need or value we will align that value with what we pay those workers. bankers went on strike and literally no one gave a shit and they just ended up going back to work. garbage men went on strike and in in 6 days they got every thing they asked for (and deserved)

anyway i could go on about this stuff all day and frequently do. most people in Australia are currently too comfortable to care.

there are only 3 options for middle class Australians.

  1. continue as is and slowly slip in to poverty/working slavery as wages stay flat while cost of living rises
  2. be the capitalist and invest in a system and drives people into poverty (people in poverty die sooner) making these people as good as murderers/ slave owners
  3. Rebel against the current system

Three-EE! clap clap clap

Scared it will just continue to be 1. Combine that with the dark surveillancey path our govt is going down, it's all a little unnerving, isn't it.

Well said! I love the thought of what awesome work people would be freed up to do which is currently not seen as important. So much environmental stuff we could all be freed up to do as well.

It's really frustrating, isn't it, the lack of convo about this stuff. i feel like if more people grasped the vision of what difference a UBI could make, maybe they'd be more interested. Or possibly not :)

I do hope it does find you, universal basic income, and me too.

Thank you, lovely :) To be able to go about your life without worrying about the blasted stuff would be divine!
