Number 27

August is a Merdeka Month in Malaysia. Merdeka aka Malaysia Independent Day.
As a Malaysian, we are all proud to be part of independent day which falls on 31st Aug.

So as the month of August, many oraganizers would organize running, zumba, and all sort of excercise activities to celebrate Merdeka Month and also to bring awareness to all citizen to gather to celebrate Malaysia's Independent month.

Just earlier this evening, I and my family participated Merdeka Night Run organize by Labuan Internation School (LIS).
It was advertise months earlier, so many had registered and prepared for the run.

It was said to be 7km run, however at the end of the run many had check it was about an average 8-9km run. I had expected it already after just a quick look at the running map. It surely does not look like a 7km distance.

Earlier before the run, I targeted my eldest sister @annamocha (who apparently is fitter than me) target to be Top 10. She finishes in 8th place. Unfortunately prizes only set for Top 5. My brother inlaw @diamondray finishes in 6th place. Almost Top 5, but too bad so near yet so far. Myself however, since the sun rise earlier today I had almost given up to run. I was unwell, maybe due to my late sleep the night before. Went to meet few friennds who was from out of town. Just had a bottle of Guinness Stout but didn't expect it to affect my health the day after.

Feeling to run for this Merdeka Night Run was Yes & No situation. Yes if I would ignore my sickness of running nose, unending sneezing and fever. No if I would put my health first. As the day passes, I finished drinking at approximately 4.5L of water (3 x top up of 1.5L bottle) and kept going in and out the toilet to flush out my body heat.

At 5pm, then only I have decided I will just Run. Was thinking that I will stop if I can't finish the run and give a quick call to anybody for a emergency pick up. Changed my outfit and was ready to go. Funny as it sound, our flag off was 7.30pm but I fell asleep at 6.00pm with my running outfit. Woke up half an hour after and immediately refresh myself. It was actually for my power nap. LOL. Lucky LIS is just 5 minutes drive away from home.

Left home at 6.45pm, make a quick stop at the local store and had an energy drink Red Bull to buzz up my sugar level with some Kit Kat in bag in case I needed one during my run. Heeee...

Flag off for Women Open was at 7.35pm and what had happen after the run was just amazing. I can honestly say I am not fit to run but surprisingly I finished my run at number 27th place. In estimation about 80-100 Women Open participants.

It's a satisfying feeling to be in Top 30. Is more than enough for me. To be in Top 10 just like my sister, at the moment is not in my wish list. Maybe next year.

That's really quite a challenge to push on, while your body wants to rest, you are pushing it to run!

Kudos to your effort.

Very true.. but at the finishing its rewarding.. do you go for run too?

8.45KM is far from 7KM, but still, it looks like a great night run.
