HELLO STEEMIANS !

And welcome in the newest episode of RAVING FOXES, an exclusive Steemit-only techno series where for the twelfth time a bunch of crazy foxes gives you an opportunity to discover and explore rising stars, unique profiles and most influential personas in the world of electronic music. Today we would like to focus on the one of contemporary techno's most exciting names - an Asian icon which was born in Malaysia, spent youth in Singapore and the Taiwan until being kicked out of high school for destroying a classmate's guitar. After this strong statement he moved to his father in Shanghai, China but the next behavior's problems forced him to change the environment again, heading this time to the San Diego in United States. Sleepy town couldn't be a host for such a persona, so quickly after finishing high school, Chicago has warmly welcomed him. Currently placed somewhere between Shanghai and Taipei, of course while he is not playing in the completely different part of the world.

TZUSING

His musical fascinations has started around age of fourteen, with The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy streamed often by MTV at that time. But the first true cultural shock came with Alex from USA, the new student from the class of Tzusing's older brother.

My brother told me Alex had some techno music that didn’t sound like 2unlimited (my idea of techno at the time). He called it rave music and underground techno. I was super intrigued. I didn’t understand what “underground” was at the time.
He played me Josh Wink’s ‘Higher State of Consciousness‘ and it blew me away.

Doors were opened. Irreversibly. Completely new, alienated and absolutely unknown form of music changed everything in the life of this young fellow. Guitar lessons quickly became irrelevant, shifting his focus on the electronic music. As the listener, young Tzusing often wondered why the original producer used that kind of samples instead the other ones and how he would re-design each track in his own way. We cannot forget to mention a person with a big impact on him during that time in Taichung, Taiwan, a the local DJ JJ who shaped his musical orientation and helped with the first steps as a DJ. Years of clubbing in Chicago and exploring EDM, industrial and acid sounds of Shanghai brought another revolutions in the understanding of techno and finally helped to build the Tzusing which we known now - a musical connection between cultures.

Tzusing – 日出東方 唯我不敗 [LIES092]

Tzusing has been playing for over fifteen years, well known in his local sides from hosting a legendary Stockholm Syndrome nights as a resident of Shanghai's best nightclub called Shelter. At one of those parties in Shelter, Tzusing was introduced to An-I who showed enthusiasm about his debut track called Teeth released in 2013 on VA Dark Acid III via Clan Destine Records. It is impossible to find this information on discogs without digging deeper ! Quickly after this meeting, both guys had a conversation once again, this time about Ron Morelli's, hopes and plans for releasing a trilogy of Tzusing's EP's on his label L.I.E.S.

Tzusing - 地心引力抓不住你 [BDN016]

Trilogy series called A Name Out Of Place EP originally surfaced on Ron Morelli's label between 2014 and 2016, became a huge success and recently have been compiled and repressed as a triple-LP set, A Name Out Of Place Collected. Limited edition of sixty beautiful red vinyls is already out of stock, but you can still purchase the regular 3x12". Cooperation with L.I.E.S. helped Tzusing to gain a worldwide recognition and allowed to play in many European, American, Asian and Australian venues. Beside of these three EP's, Tzusing has also released his first LP called 東方不敗 on the same label. You can listen and buy the whole album here.

Tzusing - Axis of Revision [LIES054]

Since the beginning his sounds were very characteristic. Strong, aggressive percussion, intensive and twisted industrial synths combined with the Asian influences, strange harmonic textures, rare instruments known only for the local people sampled or performed live and very heavy deep bass. As a DJ, Tzusing’s sets are a wild combination of techno, industrial electronics and sophisticated non-western, forgotten dance music. His music circles around themes of power, obsession, sexuality, identity and its obliteration. That unique combination drags more attention every day, keeping Tzusing constantly on the target of different labels. Beside of L.I.E.S. his tracks can be found on the labels like Public Possession, Born Free Records, Bedouin Records, Digital Tsunami, Cav Empt, Cititrax.

Tzusing - Nonlinear War [CITI019]

We are into a subculture that isn’t popular within our demographic. I remember going to parties in Chicago, around 2001 to 2006, and there being at most one or two Asian people in the room. The people that made underground electronic music don’t reference the stuff I grew up with. I can just imagine a young Tzusing finding a record like mine, I would have freaked the fuck out. I did it for the Asian kids that have found themselves stuck between these cultures.”
