Intro
Krack is a WiFi vulnerability that effects every WiFi router and Linux operating systems especially. Many software vendors are now rushing to issue patches, but many people will not have automatic updates selected.
Krack is a flaw in the ‘standard’ of WiFi WPA2 security protocol, Android 6.0 is as vulnerable as Linux. Mathy Vanhoef (Belgian University, KU Leuven) and assistant researchers initially discovered this vulnerability. Krack stands for Key Re-installation Attack.
CyberPic
Mitigation
An attacker needs to be physically present and encryption within a web browser makes the attack more complicated. I would suggest that everyone updates their routers firmware and get OS updates immediately.
Updating router firmware is one of the easiest ways to upgrade your cyber preparedness and makes it harder to access your network. Remember that your personal network is the cyber equivalent to the inside of your house, once someone is in they just need time to steal.
Android and Linux users should avoid public WiFi (which is always a sensible precaution).
Conclusion
Who Else Knew?
The cyber world is becoming more unsafe by the day, I wonder if this research team was the first to actually find this flaw. With the amount of exploit finding and selling companies out there it makes me wonder.

It seems obvious (and has been to me for many years now) that all technology is inherently designed with flaws and vulnerabilities and that it's by design. Look at the origins of the internet from it's military beginnings. Why would a military system broadcast over a communications system that has no protections in it whatsoever?
