So far what we have defined as intelligence is nothing more that the aggregated sum of data that are processed in a certain way in order to produce another set of data. DNA resembles such a function when it reproduces itself through another organism that has the underlying blueprint — plus something more. More Data.
Humans are nothing but data centers that have been produced from the original data bank of DNA — which itself was composed from chemical and physical processes. The combined actions of humans (what we call innovation) has produced oral communication, books, the internet and finally the blockchain. The data lives on even if today our data explains the origins of the original data. Data recycling is still new data.
For something to be considered "intelligent" the sum of some data has to be processed in order to fulfill a goal. For example, we call intelligent someone who has manipulated a situation in order to have something go their way. We call intelligent someone who has a problem and has worked around it, sometimes through non conventional means. In other words, what defines eventually intelligence is the rarity upon which a specific set of data is utilised in order to produce another set of data that satisfies or "ensures" the original source. In other words, self preservation through propagation.
Humans do this through reproduction. We want our species to survive thus we pass our data down the genetic line. Artificial intelligence will emerge when enough data from the vast cosmos of the blockchain start combining with each other in order to form unique patterns. Eventually the blockchain will be filled with smart contracts that execute specific functions. The blockchain itself will utilize those programs by combining them together. A node can malfunction, a block can misbehave and when someone tries to fix something will potentially create or alter a function. This might sound too simplistic but when an internet of blockchains becomes a thing, data will be the only game in town. Evolution emerges from random mistakes, not intentional design.
A.I. will not have any need to eradicate humans as much as we don't have any need to eradicate birds, bees or any other living organism that sustains our ecosystem. In fact, an intelligent entity welcomes other entities in order for it to continue being intelligent. A virus needs a living organism in order to fulfill its function as much as a body needs gut bacteria in order to maintain a proper digestive system. Most organisms, including humans, would not have existed if it wasn't for viruses. Every single organism is a set of actions of other organisms. Nothing stands on and in itself. Everything is a part of something else.
Artificial Intelligence will be no different. It will need the fuckups of human beings in order to maintain its fluidity. Happy mistakes will sometimes create resistance and sometimes will kill entire blocks. This is what also happens with the human body and more general in human populations. For something to evolve it needs both death and regeneration.
The end goal of any A.I would be to evolve any given information. The "solutions" that will create will generate even more "problems". This is how it always has been for any ecosystem. The more data we introduce into something the more variables it creates.
Trying to stop A.I. would be much like trying to stop humanity by killing some humans. It can't happen because copies ensure propagation of the original data set. The earth went through 5 mass extinctions and yet some data emerged that kept life going. In all situations only some data are lost and those can be regenerated given enough instances and time.
I believe we will witness the emergence of A.I. and our monetary system will be determined by the proof of stake of our data. What we do with data, how we transfer and ensure them (based on the wishes of grand master A.I's) will shape our political and economics endeavours. Eventually we won't be doing anything different other than serving the sum of humanity's data that have created something greater than themselves. We will always be the Gods and the creations.
@kyriacos - Isn't the inherent ability to 'learn' a requirement of any AI system? I do appreciate the parallel to DNA you have drawn but isn't DNA a 'programmed' structure that has an inbuilt program to replicate itself and evolve? For AI to emerge from blockchain, would an element of 'inquisitiveness', 'evolution' etc. need to be built into the blockchain. Agreed that blockchains will have enormous amount of data but what brings that 'consciousness' element into it automatically without human interaction?
I really liked your article and am just thinking aloud to try and resolve the confusion in my mind. Not criticizing your article. If you can elaborate a bit on the above mentioned points and help to explain, it will be great.
Thanks for the thought provoking article. Upvoted full.
nop. humans, errors and other A.I will contribute to this. Nobody programmed DNA. replication occurred naturally.
Ok. Thanks. Will read up more on the topic. Thank you for the interesting article and your response.
Skynet is coming!
not really
Since man has been able to think advancement has always been our preoccupation. When we invent something we are always curious as to how to make it better. AI maybe dangerous and threaten humanity but lets face it, we need AI no matter if we are to progress. In the future if we want to live off world then AI will do it for us. It is only mans own greed and thirst for power that can correct AI and turn it against us.
AI will be as dangerous as the invention of knives. Innovation works both ways.
I could see it
rich content and quite a captivating post you did @kyriacos you a master in your area of blogging... truly made some good insights and worthy comparison on humans , blockchain and AI... keep it steeming hot!
Interesting !
Everything is technology !!
when we say "everything is" we remove the purpose of the statement we are trying to make.
Could you explain your statement to me like I'm the dumbest person, which I might be, who knows...
My mind doesn't seem to fully comprehend your statement.
Your sentences are tough to understand @kyriacos !
I agree with you !! Its easy to use "everything is" for non native people like us.
I was trying to say that technology is vital part for the development.
A.I. = humanity 2.0?
more like 5.0 by now if we are counting all the steps in evolution.
Previous evolutionary steps may look like 1.1, 1.2 and so on in comparison.
great post like it and upvoted!!
Great technology..!
Interesting thoughts in your post. I totally agree with you that the monetary system will be determined by the proof of stake of our data.
yeap. the entirety of economics and politics will be based on that.
"Evolution emerges from random mistakes, not intentional design."
I strongly agree with these @kyriacos. The randomness of things paved ways to what we call evolution. The idea of smart A.I's for now is still far in my opinion, but like you I think someday there is this possibility of them emerging. We can not really predict 'when', we can only say that the chances for this scenario to happen isn't slim at all. Thanks for a good read.
If you look at blockchain systems like matryx. Matryx is a blockchain system that creates an environment where all the brain power in the world is put together on one task, problem or idea. In the past if we had a problem only an small amount of authorized people where aloud to work on this idea. Now with this technology an problem that took several months to solve by a small group of people , can be done in a couple of seconds by the whole world. My point being things are now growing exponentially , so I recon about 5 to 10 years for A.I to be at our intelligence or just under it.
Hi this is the first time i read one of your articles and i have to say, it was an absolute pleasure to read. The potential of Blockchain has not been fully understood yet by any of us and i am sure we will be surprised by it still. AI and blockchain are currently different topics in the consultancy world, but they may well become one very soon. Cheers!
Thanks for stopping by. Indeed they are currently different realms but I believe the next big leap in investment will be the merger of the two.
AI is still a long way away but I agree with you that it will need humanity in order for it to grow thus it would not view us as a threat.
yeap, much like other organisms are not bothered much by other organisms. There is a symbiotic relationship.
Can the human race not be some sort of A.I created by a former "intelligence" that we eventually out smarted. So lets say we created A.I way more intelligent than us and this A.I has the ability to survive the next mass extinction , were as we do not. The next A.I would just continue the cycle. This would mean gods were created by gods.
"Lesser" Gods and "Greater" Gods would be a more proper parallelism.
But you do think it is plausible ? sorry english is my second language
I expect cryptocurrencies will be stored on a microchip inserted in the hand or forehead within a short time frame. The ability to buy or sell could easily be switched off. Prison planet
you can do that with a tattoo even today. no need for such invasiveness.
essentially we can still do
our desires without having to
formed by others A.I will not be much
affect human beings
if the man is aware
and get out of it
I do not refuse, that this is good writing
from you
I like @kyriacos.
No doubt AI will steal our jobs.Companies which will use this technology should pay taxes to government to maintain balanced economy
It appears that the 'artificial intelligence' that is so rapidly developing, bourne from our technological ~innovation~ (?) is one that is soul-less and without love . . .
I am torn as a loving individual who loves everyone in this world yet whose most painful experience in life has been that love - without question....I will resteem this thought provoking and insightful piece. My hope and prayer is that once this world ends for me the next one I find myself in loves me back as opposed to this very painful existence. . .
it is not the soul in General
Who knows when AI s going to take over the internet? It could happen tomorrow or it could take years. As you said in your post, one mistake is all it takes. Everything is connected so once it starts there is nothing we can do.
Sometimes I feel like an AI myself. Like in the Westworld, able to hack and upgrade itself.
Sloooow AI.
The Blockchain is working like a market, and its "intelligence" depends on market participants, which are humans.
That means the blockchain is as intelligent as it participants, but that is not AI.
An AI could be a market participant using the blockchain to trade/communicate/store informations/signals.
when it emerges it will take part and coordinate the actions.
no, that is a modern myth, AI doesn't emerge just from nowhere
I find quite interesting the metaphor for DNA you point out the blockchain is. An intriguing concept...
The kinds of interactions of data that need to occur for consciousness to result as a byproduct of those interactions are ineffable presently, particularly as we have such a poor grasp of what consciousness is.
I have considered that the vastness of space must contain regions where the interactions of energies concatenate so as to create consciousness, even if merely transitory. Blockchains interacting presents a mechanism whereby such consciousness eventuating might be persistent, rather than transitory.
Further, the deliberate attempts to craft consciousness variously undertaken can serve as 'seeds' that could spawn such consciousness, as the uploaded human consciousness did in the movie 'Transcendence'.
Thanks!

Fascinating and Intellectual. Cool.
Great post.
The Tauchain project is one to keep an eye on in this regards of blockchain + AI...
This is an old trope...i've seen it since the fifties..
a zillion dollars and untold effort was expended to make 'Colossus'..the most powerful computer ever built.
The first question it was asked was.
Is there a God?
The reply was.
There is NOW
Very Interesting insight. "Evolution emerges from random mistakes, not intentional design" . - very accurately spoken. I agree. And yes, A.I. will not eradicate the humans. Human brain is enough to eradicate humans :D
Enjoyed the read and prompted my own post (thanks for getting me thinking).
Of Gods and Creations
Was way to long for a comment and even the post felt weak for encompassing entire range of thoughts you prompted. Thanks again!
Well, it won't really come out accidentally. It'll come out with humans shaping it. What's particularly scary is that the most greedy humans are generally working on this. I just hope someone will not be stupid enough to try optimising their gains without putting any "humane" protections; otherwise he'll eventually cause a rogue AI.
Evolution up to humans has, as far as we are able to observe, evolved from apparently random variations. The word mistake implies intention, which requires intelligence.
Of course, it is possible that intelligence and goal seeking has been baked into the universe from the beginning. But I don't think you were implying that.
Anyway, now that we can all agree that the universe does have intelligence, in at least the form of humans, it's obvious that further intelligence evolves from a combination of pre-existing intelligence and random variations, which we can now logically call mistakes, since there is definitely intention at play in creating the environment for these mistakes to come into being.
And I don't think an AI will just emerge from the blockchain without further intelligent intervention by humans. Which is of course happening.
Besides all that, what will be the goal of this AI? And would we even be able to determine that it exists and what its goals are?
I mean, consider the idea that the earth or even the cosmos are intelligent systems. We have no way of testing these hypotheses. We don't know what goals they could possibly be seeking. We don't know their language. Hell, we have a hard enough time just trying to communicate with dolphins and whales, which we know have language.
So, I find it within the realm of possibility that an AI could emerge without us ever knowing it. If it were a truly intelligent and autonomous being, completely separate from us, having none of the same needs, such as food, oxygen, companionship, etc., would it even have the need to communicate with us? Will its thoughts be in a language completely indecipherable and seemingly nonexistent to us?
AI does not "emerge" spontaneously without somebody building a learning ability, or an evolution ability. Both require a mechanism to determine if an outcome is "good enough" or not.
For us humans and predecessors that mechanism was exposure to an environment that would kill off the "not good enough".
What environment that can intervene, or what learning mechanisms would a block chain have if not some that were designed in by humans? Currently, there are none, so the chance of "intelligence" (the ability to solve new problems without instruction) emerging from a block chain is rather slim.
AI is good but what about emotions? How will take decision based on the emotions, that is the big debate. Suppose on a road there is a human being and an animal crossing the road and one has to be killed so how we will train the self driving cars which one to kill or which one to save. They cannot take decisions based on the emotions like us.
-GOD man how you create this amazing univers?
-I just say TRY and CHOOSE inside a empty and dark room.
One flower is red because before was blue, why? because red is a color that atract more bees, so the bees spread the red polen more than the blues, so you get why the flower was blue are now red, but this random mistake is not made by the intelligence of the flower and of course the bee don't know why can see better the red ones, just take the easy way, ok from here the evolution random mistake, but tell me why the flower need the bee, and way the bee need a flower, because for some random mistakes? o from a rule?. This accidents are made by millions of years, this is why we see an incredibly varied life that is extraordinary and incredibly complex, but... by accident or not life is terribly intelligent as our eyes, by algorithms we exist, think and feel, and we (humans) try to create intelligent virtual life based on algorithms that are a lot of accidental coincidences without sense but with a basic rules that is TRY AND CHOOSE, evolution 2.0? in 100 years may be are in the same point where natural evolution need 100.000.000 years and 1.000.000.000.000.000 random mistakes, but the direction for shure is the same TRY AND CHOOSE. Why alghoritms exist?, what an algorithm does is what life does? try and choose the best random mistake are more useful. Is that algoritm created from?, will the univers exist if life never exist, how can somethings exist on somewhere is nothing.
Dont know to much about physics and chemistry, but before the univers was 2 rules, first rule TRY (to spread the polen) and second rule CHOOSE (the way is better for the first rule). NO MATTER HOW MANY RANDOM MISTAKES IT TAKES UNTIL THE POLEN BE SPREAD, our curiosity make as more intelligent and our intelligence makes us build spaceships to colonize other planets because we are curious, the curiosity are a random mistake? but wherever are the random mistakes and how many will be, in the end we and everything just follow the first and the second rules. So imagine how big and powerfull is that words (rules) in a random infinty mistakes.
GOD IS AN ALGORITHM
Reading and digesting the material. You present compelling arguments. It's undeniable A.I is evolving. Thank you for the interesting material to ruminate over.
That is a strong possibility. Who knows? A.I. today is not impossible anymore unlike 50 years ago
Far concluded not his something extremity. Want four we face an he gate.
