A Fleet of Self-driving Buses Is Launched In the UK.


Stagecoach carries around 10,000 passengers a week between Edinburgh and Fife. From next month, passengers will ride self-driving buses. The line will be served by 5 Enviro200AV buses supplied by Alexander Dennis. There will be two members of staff on board each vehicle. 'Safety Driver' in the driver's cabin, supervising the work of technology and 'Captain' in the passenger compartment checking tickets and answering passengers' questions. The project, named CAVForth is part of a joint venture between Fusion Processing, Stagecoach, Alexander Dennis, Transport Scotland, Edinburgh Napier University and Bristol Robotics Lab.
