Amazon opened their New Checkout Less Store in Seattle USA.

How It Works

1. Enter the Store and before walking through the turnstile you scan the barcode from the Amazon App on your mobile device.

2. High Technology Devices in the ceiling will then monitor you as you walk through the turnstile and walk around the store.

3. Cameras on shelves spot when you remove something from the shelf also weighing the item you removed.

4. Items removed will be added to your account, not sure what happens if you like me pick many items up to read the labels and put them back, hopefully it will not add the item to your account.

5. When you exit the store, your shopping is totalled and you are sent a receipt.

Shoppers say that it feels very strange just loading up with goods and walking out of the store without visiting a checkout till. The motto for the sore is "Just Walk Out".

Amazon reckon that this is the future, and will reduce the number of staff required in stores.

It's new and it sounds crazy to most people, I just wonder what would happen in a busy store when tens of people pick up the same items and then put them back, whilst some put the item in their bag, perhaps people in Seattle should test crowd bombing certain parts of the store, and see what happens. Amazon say the most people allowed in the store is ninety people due to fire regulations.

Amazon say that if you put an item back on the shelf it is taken off your account, this is something I would not trust.

Age restricted items are monitored by staff so if you wish to purchase alcohol you may be asked for ID.
