Telegram Users in Russia now Cry Fowl

in #telegram7 years ago

Telegram being one of the reliable messaging app around the world, offers its users the ability to share and spread information across populations. However, the Russian government decided to shut down Telegram to prevent individuals from sharing and spreading information that could lead to violence.

The government of Russia has defended itself saying that Telegram has been limited due to security reasons. currently, Telegram users are unable to obtain the encryption keys that allow their messages to be private. This means that the users of Telegram in Russia have no privacy as the government has the ability to see their messages. The Russian government now censures the messages before they are consumed by those who receive them. The phenomenon has lead to severe protests where Russians demand for their rights to privacy be reinstated.

I read once an article wherein Edward Snowden said, " The Government owns Telegram." Which means nothing within the Telegram ecosystem is safe or secure. Your secrets are not your own. All Data is prone to intrusion, yet still, I use Telegram like everyone else. Be Safe.

If this is true then I bet people will shift from the Telegram to other convenient and safer social media. Remember some Russians are ready to buy the encryption keys just to have their privacy ensured. The government is playing its cards wrong. You can never win by oppressing others.

@gaman you're on the @abusereports naughty list! Bad Steemian!
