A couple of days ago I played around in Photoshop and Created this attention-getting (I hope) graphic! I used one of my colorful psychedelic sixties patterns I had created to fill the text, but you can use any image make it work. If you would like to know how I created it, let me know in the comments and I will make a post showing you how! All you need is Photoshop and a little creativity.
It has been a few months since I have posted here. It took me a while to get here in the first place, and then life seemed to get in the way for the past few months. Now, here I am again!
In a couple of weeks I am taking a trip to Cyprus to visit my son and his new wife. They had a small outdoors wedding ceremony with photos on the beach in November 2020. No family was able to attend of course, so we all watched via Zoom! Now that the ban on Americans traveling there has been lifted, I'm on my way on May 9! I will be traveling solo, as Jim couldn't face 4 airports, 3 flights and over 24 hours of continual mask wearing! I will be eating a lot and drinking lots of water, so that I will have plenty ofmask down time. I am so looking forward to seeing Evan and Olga, and naturally I am also excited about the new travel photos I will return with!
In the meantime, I am humbling asking for your help. I'm hoping to use my Steem for spending money. However, I'm having a hard time getting it out of there! First I transferred 500 Steem to Steemscan (bad idea) which supposedly would convert it into Bitcoin and send it to my Kraken account. That was two days ago and nothing has shown up in my account. I have tried contacting the responsible parties over on that side, and so far - crickets! So, I am not holding my breath!
A while back @tattoodjay told me he had used Ionomy to transfer his Steem to here, so yesterday I gave them a try. I was more careful this time and transferred only 5 Steem. Well, I was sort of careful. I appear to have transferred 5 Steem twice. Anyway, almost instantly the Steem was in my account. I converted 5 Steem to BTC with no problems. I then thought I would try converting to Fiat, but it seems there must be a lower limit for converting because the entire amount consisted of a fee, so I didn't go through with trying to convert it. So, are my questions for those of you who may have cashed out from Ionomy:
1. How much Bitcoin do I need before I can transfer to Fiat?
2. What are the fees they charge for the conversion? Is it a fixed fee or percentage based?
3. Once the BTC has been converted to Fiat, can I then transfer it to my bank?

Can you convert to cash from your kraken account?
Hi! Yes, I know I can do it from Kraken as I did it a couple of years ago. Would I have to send my Steem to Ionomy to convert and then on to Kraken once it is converted to Bitcoin? I can't send directly to Kraken. Last time I used Blocktrades, but they don't handle Steem anymore.
I’m thinking you would have to do all the KYC stuff on ionomy before withdrawing to $. So using Kraken may be your best bet. If you use simpleswap.io (no account required), you should be able to get it over to Kraken. It will swap from steem to btc automatically.
Thanks for your responses. I'm a bit naive about all the terminology,I'm afraid. What is KYC? I think that Steemscan was set up like simpleswap too then, as there was no account required. Are they safe? have you tried them?
I just had a look at simpleswap and it does look easy - too good to be true maybe? So, I just enter my BTC wallet address on Kraken and it will convert to BTC and go directly there? Do they charge a big fee?
Ah yes. I looked it up - Know Your Customer! Yes, too many places out there already have too much information from me. Kraken already has it all, so I see why it would be the best bet!
Ive used simpleswap numerous times. Yes there is a fee. Not sure exactly how much. Blocktrades has a better rate, but only good for hive to btc.
That's good to know, as it does look quite easy. I guess I need to get an address on there to send my Steem to in the first place, so will poke around a bit to see how I do that part.
@daveks, I have decided to give simpleswap a try. How do I get some Steem to there? Sorry, I am such a newbie and have been burned already with the Steemscan scam. I will certainly convert a very little at a time this time.
It looks like the steem transfer is disabled at the moment. It does that from time to time.
Ah, OK! I have managed to transfer everything via Bittrex! Yay! I am still trying to track down the 500 Steem I sent to Steemscan to convert to BTC. Now I need to get busy posting on here. I have missed everyone while I've been away.
Diane, I used Bittrex to convert all of my STEEM to BTC without any issues. They have HIVE/BTC trading too, although I have not tried that. You could send the BTC to Kraken if you have that exchange linked to your fiat account. Safe travels! Looking forward to photos :-)
Thaks I will look into that too. I think I may have tried signing up with Bittrex and saw that Steem was not traded there anymore. I may be wrong. I've tried so many ways, that I'm forgetting now who all I have tried.LOL! Now I am very wary of Steemit altogether, as they are no longer showing me my wallet transactions this morning. I'm hoping it is just a glitch, because I had used Wallet to try to communicate with the guys operating Steemscan and of course it showed my transfer of 500 Steem to them! Once bitten, twice shy!
Now my wallet has totally disappeared, so all of this may be moot! I think Steemit or someone on there has robbed me. That's what I get for speaking out on there against their "conversion" scheme!I wrote a post on there trying to get to the bottom of the Steemscan SteemsSCAM! Ugh! Being truthful these days seems to be a great hazard of life.

Strange, but my wallet on Steemit is now only visible if I sign into Wallet, but at least it appears to be still there - minus the Transaction history, which was my proof of transfer and communication with Steemscan. I think I am going to try the simpleswap route first because I just need to get the BTC to Kraken.

Now something else very fishy is going on. Steem has disappeared from simpleswap! It was there yesterday when @daveks first mentioned it and I checked it out. Now even if I put Steem in their search, it is not found! They have deleted my wallet transactions over on Steemit too, and now they appear to be stopping us from getting Steem out in any way at all!
Yikes! I had no trouble with Bittrex, but Moved all of my Steem right after Hive came on line, so it’s been awhile.
I hadn't tried Bittrex.The problem arose with simpleswap. I have given Bittrex everything about me now and am in, but I am going crazy trying to find where the wallet is. It is not showing up across the top bar no matter what I click. I think I must be jinxed. LOL!
I managed successfully to send all my Steem to Bittrex! Yay! Thanks for the help! Now if I can just recover my 500 Steem from the Steemscan guys, I'll be even happier! I can't do much with the bit of Steem Power left there because of delagations, and I can't figure out where they are goin - probably to folks who are no longer on there either. LOL!
