'The Best' FIFA football awards

Recognition given by FIFA to the best players on the planet, is the highest distinction for a player and this is the third installment of the trophy, the candidates and the difference between July 3, 2017 and July 15 of this year.

Recall that this FIFA award replaces, for the soccer institution, the FIFA Golden Ball which was chosen jointly by the presiding Gianni Infantino and the prestigious magazine France Football from 2010. But discrepancies between both parties to return to separate the prize. That is to say, the decoration of the French publication is still valid, but without support from the institution that governs world football.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the only winner of the award, raised in 2016 and 2017. Will they manage to avoid the Portuguese triple crown?

The winners of the prizes are welcomed at the ceremony of the best football awards of FIFA, in London on September 24.

1CR7.jpg

Cristiano Ronaldo

It was key for Real Madrid to win its third consecutive Champions League. The Portuguese winger was the 'top scorer' of the Champions League (15 goals in 13 games), CR7 went out and reached 44 points in 44 matches. A few notable numbers that could not accompany the success in the World despite holding four goals (hat-trick to Spain included) in four games with Portugal. After his transfer to Juventus, the current champion of The Best wants to revalidate the prize in 2018.

2DE BRUYNE.jpg

Kevin De Bruyne

He was the 'playmaker' of Manchester City of Guardiola that swept the Premier. His 12 goals and 21 assists among all the tournaments put in numbers his ability to reach, order, pass, bargain ... A complete footballer who also shone in the World Cup with the Belgium that finished third. His partnership with Hazard and Lukaku caused havoc.

3GRIEZMANN.jpg

Antoine Griezmann

The best version of Antoine Griezmann appeared in spring. The Atletico Madrid attacker was key with his double in the final of the Europa League that gave the title to the rojiblanco team closing a campaign with his club in which he scored 29 goals in 49 games. It was the prelude to his great World Cup. Griezmann was one of the leaders of 'Les Bleus' in Russia leading France to the title. He celebrated four goals and gave three assists raising the Bronze Ball of the tournament.

4HAZARD.jpg

Eden Hazard

In an irregular Chelsea, he left good numbers (17 goals and 13 assists) but it was at the World Cup where the Belgian winger came out: the captain of the 'red devils' invented impossible plays, dribbling and three goals that helped Belgium to reach the semifinals and third place, the best in its history. Hazard was designated the Silver Ball of the World Cup for that.

5KANE.jpg

Harry Kane

It does not stop to score goals. The top scorer of 2017 in Europe (56 goals) remained the same in 2018: his 41 goals in 48 games with Tottenham (30 in Premier) did not earn him to be the top scorer of the English League, which was for Salah. And in the World Cup, he led England to the semifinals. At 24 years old, the captain of the 'Three Lions' was the Golden Boot of the Russian World Cup with six goals. Nobody scored more than him, although he did not 'wet' in the quarterfinals or in the semifinals.

6MBAPPE.jpg

Kylian Mbappé

It has been the great feeling of the season. After breaking it at Monaco in 2016-17, the young talent of 19 years left in 2017-18. He scored 21 goals with a PSG that won the League, League Cup, Cup and Super Cup in France but fell in the second round of the Champions League. And he shined in the World Cup. Four goals, his exhibition against Argentina and his goal to Croatia in the final led him to be named Best Junior of the World Cup. The future is yours.

7MESSI.jpg

Lionel Messi

It was a whirlwind. He scored 45 goals and 18 assists in 54 matches between all the tournaments with which Barcelona won LaLiga and the Cup. With 34 goals in the Spanish championship, Messi was proclaimed the 'top scorer' for the fifth time. However, in the elimination of Barcelona against Roma in the quarterfinals of the Champions League and in the irregular World Cup of Argentina slipping in eighths, their teams did not have the best version of Leo, who could only score one goal and two assists in Russia.

8MODRIC.jpg

Luka Modric

It was, once again, the beacon that guided Real Madrid to win its third Champions League in a row. Beyond their numbers, their exhibitions were remarkable to give fluidity to the game of the Madrid side. Some performances that lasted in Russia. Modric was the leader of the Croatia that reached the World Cup final that they lost to France. His goal to Argentina was one of the best in the tournament. And his football earned him to be designated the Golden Ball of the World Cup.

9SALAH.jpg

Mohamed Salah

The Egyptian end was the great appearance of 2017-18. With Liverpool, Mo Salah broke all his record records by scoring 44 goals in 52 matches between all competitions. His 32 goals earned him being the top scorer of the Premier fighting with Messi for the Golden Boot and also being named the Best Player of the English championship. And with his 10 goals in the Champions League, Salah guided Liverpool to the final they lost to Real Madrid and in which they were injured. Depleted, he could not shine with Egypt in the World Cup. Still, Salah made a temporadón.

10VARANE.jpg

Raphael Varane

At age 25, the titles fall. For the third consecutive year, he led with Sergio Ramos the defense of Real Madrid that lifted the 'Orejona' for the third consecutive season. And in the World Cup, he was the head of the French back along with Umtiti who won the World Cup. His goal in fourth to Uruguay opened 'Les Bleus' the door of the semifinals. Varane was in the same course champion of the Champions League and the World Cup.
