The Crocodile's Decoy

in #thegreatlie7 months ago

There was once a crocodile which kept small creatures prisoner, mistreating them out of jealousy, for they were better than him in every way. Though the crocodile was cruel, empty, and rich, the creatures remained kind. They treated strangers as themselves, like neighbors in a greater world. Most important, many of them were afraid of God. The crocodile feared not God, and made constant boasts.

The Allgoodfaire, a mystery beast that had many faces made of rocks and scales and clay. It had teeth like razors and could fly, as well as cast fire on the ground from high up like a dragon. It also loved riches, so naturally, it went on to quickly befriending the crocodile to capture more creatures for profit.

Together they brought terror double, destroying lives for personal gain. It didn't matter to them if they were their own kinsmen they slaughtered for gain, so long as their methods were re-proven to themselves: Their hate was alike.

But when a powerful person saw their tyranny, hearing the clamor of their engines, the violence of their mercilessness, he trapped them in a cage lined with crocodile heads and eight spiked swords. He even set dragons to devour them.

Now whenever the crocodile and Allgoodfaire poked the walls, the swords struck back eightfold.
